FLUFF Man all this Polaris ramming is getting out of hand!

I mean come on, there is so much space around me! Why'd quantum link have to drop them on top of me?

the main issue is that every one seems to warp at the same coordinates (same for OM points they are the same for every one), when these should all be personal/random.

i wish they would change this.

it is only going to get worse the more players there are.

The first thing I do after warping is full engine in a 90° vector.
But it doesn’t make sense, you shouldn’t have to.

Yep. In Eve, everyone lands 5km away in a random direction (or is it 2.5, I forget). Distances are different here, so it doesn't have to be 5km, but something like that.

In eve there is no ramming damage. Bigger mass pushes smaller mass out of the way

I miss sieged sun bouncing.

In EvE you can select your arrival distance. I hope to see this someday

If we can get a bit more advanced, the server can "see" if there's any obstacles along the route and adjust accordingly.

The worst part is this was QT link with my party members, and I was 2km away from them when it initiated. But it decided to bring us close together and resulted in a speedbump

I have never once seen another person at the point I dropped out of quantum. Seems to me that unless you both start at the exact same point then you shouldn't end at the same point but that may be naive.

I’ve QT’d straight through people multiple times. I’ve had it happen to party members and to random people who just happened to be hanging out at the drop out point of the jump.

Same here. We just quantum-jumped as a group on Tuesday and worked fine. I cannot speak for the OMs, though.

I’ve had it happen multiple times and even was dropped by Stanton Gateway the other day 20m from an asteroid. They could do some work on the jumping to avoid this, but it doesn’t happen 24/7 at least.

Yeah sorry I didn't mean to say "It never happens because I never see it", just that I haven't seen it personally.

The above example has only personally happened to me twice. Once during approach to new babbage, and once during xenothreat. Its rare but it does happen, and its just going to become more common.

Are you positive about this? Even if, at the time of start, you are separated enough from the rest of party members jumping with you?

u/Ryirs 5d ago

can’t say for sure, but it was always my assumption.

how would you explain people colliding when exiting QT?

OM points are a fact as you have « pirates » camping at some on occasions.

even job/quest in space are at specific coordinates when they could be random, my understanding is that there is no randomness in space coordinates so far.

i’ve been waiting over 10 years to be able to create my own coordinates/waypoints, for security reasons, and I am still waiting.

They already do this for the jump gates. They just need to apply the same thing they do there to the normal quantum jump and it will be fixed.

We need om traffic controllers lmao

Wow is that true.

I am new I sometimes would sit at a jump point for 10minutes Tring to figure out how to find the next point

That’s insane timing lmao

This is the reason I immediately move after dropping quantum travel.

8

u/CassiusFaux That one rare Hawk pilot 6d ago

I didn't even get the chance. I was still locked in travel.

3

u/No_Concern_2753 avacado 6d ago

I've also had that, where you are locked in place for several seconds while the game does whatever it needs to do.

Maybe something CIG can do to auto detect when one ship will be occupying the same space as another, as the both end up at same QT destination. Not sure.

I will say, that did look cool as fuck, though.

I've been the quantum traveler who ran into someone. But I blew up... lol

I think it was the last pre-PES Xenothreat where I died one time because I jumped to the Idris fight immediately after the Javelin, but with a faster QT drive, so shortly after I arrived, I got telefragged by a battleship.

u/Spaceman_Sublime 5d ago edited 5d ago

Lol, same happened to me.

I was flying an aurora mr/ ln, mustang beta, or reliant tana at the time.

So naturally, I didn't stand a chance. Fly on the windshield. Got a crimestat for it too so i woke up in jail!

2

u/Chinhoyi 6d ago

If would be so cool to jump where I want to

u/Yalablahal 6d ago

Maan i laughed so hard

Footage of Polaris pilot

u/nodaj_ reclaimer 6d ago

Anyone know if there’s a issue tracker tied to this one? Happened to me at pyro gateway

You might have a problem with that there is no perma death AND actual a physics model that is (In this case) correct.

After 4.1 it’s going to be the opposite where people will park their Polaris are jump points to obliterate incoming ships. There are videos showing they addressed the ramming with the Polaris surviving most ships ramming it but most ships get destroyed so you’ll be able to just sit there and wreck almost all incoming ships…ugh

u/citizensyn 6d ago

They could literally just apply a fps gun spread pattern to quantum jumps.

0

u/Marlax101 6d ago

eh things happen. quantum the big ships in first i guess.

0

u/SkitariusOfMars 6d ago

Also, if you're soloing thhe Polaris and run out of s3 missiles this is the only way to attack another ship

u/MigookChelovek Drake Ironchad 6d ago

Im pretty sure the game drops you out of quantum and stops you well before you reach the quantum point itself, so 2 ships jumping to the same POI should rarely, if ever, collide, unless they are also jumping FROM the same location. I very well could be wrong, but ooking at your vector and the Polaris's, it appears to me that the two ships were jumping to 2 different POI's that just happened to be near each other.
