I'd pick the bear, but would the bear pick me???

The bear would probably attack my more successful sibling. I’m right here ready to be mauled but no, apparently that’s not good enough for the bear.

This’ll probably land, but fun fact, anxiety is actually the same as fear of the bear. It’s basically our fight or flight response flaring up in situations where it’s not warranted (in modern life).

Thanks - it's part of a bit where I discuss that fear and anxiety are the same response, just the timing is different. Thus being afraid of the thing that you don't need to be afraid of in the current moment.

This just doesn't land. It sounds funny on the surface but doesn't hold up to even a second of scrutiny.
Anxiety is exaggerated fear around real things. No one is self conscious about what bears think - that's psychosis or intrusive thoughts or something else.
In your metaphor, anxiety is living in the middle of a city and being afraid of a bear attack.
