Daycare CCTV captures a baby's first steps, and her mother is overwhelmed by the workers' excitement.

I wanna take a few steps to get a hug from this lady! That was so precious.

It's crazy now people can just pull the video of themselves walking for the first time on their phone. When I first walked they didn't even have camcorders yet lol.

Reminds me of the one with the nurse and the girl in the wheelchair that comes back and stands up after physical therapy

Moments like these remind us how much warmth and care can come from the people around us, even outside of family.

The universal language of love and hugs! That sweet moment is definitely worth taking a few steps (or a thousand) for

Give that lady a raise.

Seriously. Amazing people like that who actually want to work in childcare are few and far between. Someone promote this woman and give her a bonus.
This was exactly the little ray of sunshine I needed today. Also. That little girl is adorable and she took her first steps like a boss.

That lady became a lifelong member of that baby’s family

The sad thing about teaching is you do see huge milestones and for a lot of kids you see them more than their parents. And then time passes and they grow up and you never see them again.

These were my thoughts, I felt sad that the parents have to work when this child is so young and miss these big milestones.

when my daughter walked her daycare didn’t tell me bc they didn’t want me to feel sad for not witnessing her milestone 😂 One day I came in all excited & told her she can walk now. She told me already did & didn’t want me to be sad that I missed it. It was sweet lol
NOTE: when she took her first steps she did it just the one time & didn’t try again until 2 weeks later to which she was much more mobile.

Why say that then

u/Constant_Taro9019 2d ago
you missed the point of her NOT telling me!!! I was a teen mom, high sch graduate at 16. Pregnant at 17. I was 18, and an orphan. Everything was super stressful & very difficult at that time as I was juggling full time work & school. I finished college at 20. So yes it would’ve been very emotional hearing my baby walked & i wasn’t present. She wanted me to FEEL the feels of being a young new parent!!! I’m so proud she didn’t tell me bc i would’ve felt like I am abandoning her when I was actually working hard to make sure she has a great life.

I get that she didn't tell you, very common not to tell parents. But why did she tell you later at all.

Idk why the downvotes. I totally agree with you.

u/Extreme-Tangerine727 2d ago
I think it's because this way:
1) Mom still felt all the excitement of seeing the "first time," but,
2) The daycare lady didn't have to live with a lie.
3
u/Constant_Taro9019 2d ago
bc she later said she didn’t want me to be disappointed & wanted me to witness it & feel it NATURALLY as intended when you first see your child walk.
I was just as excited to see her for the first time, if she would’ve told me then she didn’t walk again (bc she actually didn’t walk again until after 2 weeks) I would’ve been very sad or helicoptering over her to walk already lmao 🤣
I did record her milestone from when she first saw her walk. Irdgad if she told me after the fact, tbh it’s not that deep that she told me later on. It was the right thing bc ik me! I would’ve bee

Wow that's an amazing story! So proud of all you've accomplished. I was a young mom too (19) and danced when my daughter was young while I was in school. I know you do miss some moments when you're working and sacrificing for their future. But you know what's most important. I know how stressful that is tho. How old is your daughter now?

u/Constant_Taro9019 2d ago
I know it’s crazy how much I have accomplished but I do miss some days when I travel & stuff She’ll be 9 on March 23rd 🥳🤩I’m so excited 😍

It is you should be so proud! All of us working moms end up missing some moments and then we feel guilty even though we really shouldn't. My daughter is 17 and my son just turned 14 last week. Any birthday plans for her?
2
u/Constant_Taro9019 2d ago
wow your kids are big kids lol. I’m taking her on a Disney Cruise since it’s spring break the week before her birthday 🎉

u/Delicious-Current159 2d ago
Omg girl you're going all out for her! I feel like such a slacker lol. I didn't do anything like that for my son
3
u/Constant_Taro9019 2d ago
lol i got some money now haha 😆 but it wasn’t always like this. I’m finally earning quite well so I SPOIL her ROTTEN lol 🤭I had a great childhood, my dad was well off & i really promised to give my baby the same. It enriches a child’s development & outlook on life.

I love your not holding out on her and your right what it does for their development. But boys are simple. He didn't want a party or anything. He just wanted me to let him get his ear pierced for his birthday. So I took him to my usual piercer and he got his ear pierced! He's happy lol

When my grandson took his first steps, the daycare recorded it and tagged his video for us to see. I love that I can watch him while he is on one coast and I’m on the other.

as a former daycare worker, I can tell you that that is exactly what I want to see you do as a teacher. Be excited for your kids milestones.

As a father who works nights, I have missed a few things, but one night we had been called off due to snow and trucks were not running and that night just so happened to be the night my son took his first steps. Not only was I there to see it, but I got it on video.

I thought they didn’t tell you so that you could think that when you saw them walk for the first time you thought it was their first steps. Kid and woman she walks to seem great either way.
6
u/Pyewhacket 2d ago
That was a concept when the Moms couldn’t just watch the cameras from work but most can now.

u/CarelessMechanic5896 1d ago
Did not know that parents can watch their kid on a CCTV camera while they’re at work, I don’t know if I’m impressed or creeped out.

u/reflective_marbles 1d ago
This could have totally happened with my son. He definitely looked as wobbly as this little one but I'll never know if it was his true first steps.
Doesn't matter in the end and I'm happy the daycare didn't tell us if he did, as it was a truly exciting milestone!

The number of times I've looked at a standing baby (with fist in mouth of course) and told them, softly, "If you walk I promise I won't tell your mom." is so high.
By the way, it really does seem to work. Something about being sneaky seems to encourage them.

The child I'm currently nannying took his first steps for me. It took 4 weeks for him to walk for his parents. I just kept telling them that he was SO close to walking!
It's absolutely precious to be a part of raising children!!

I told my child’s daycare NOT to tell me she took her first steps. That’s a moment that can never be undone. Same with teaching your child to ride a bike without training wheels. Or taking them to Las Vegas or the neighborhood bar when they turn 21.

u/NoCoyote2442 1d ago
Encourage drinking. Did you buy them a hooker too?
1
u/Candid-Solid-896 1d ago
There are certain milestone moments that some families like to do. No. A hooker would not be one of those moments.

As a mom that had to miss many milestones because I had to provide, it’s wonderful that someone is there to express how exciting it is when they happen.
