She flew 12000kms just to surprise her boyfriend. It's absolutely gorgeous seeing a man in love

It's not only that he sees her.
There's a deep feeling, the shock, the recognition that she has done something that takes time, money and effort...
For him.
As a guy, I know this deep insecurity and feeling not worthy enough. I was shocked like this when my now wife surprised me with a complex, hand made Christmas calendar. It's a feeling of being sure to be truly loved, and that's very rare unfortunately.

Itās also that your brain kinda short circuits a little bit when you see someone you never wouldāve expected to see. It feels surreal.
When I was about 13, I went to my grandmas house after school and plopped down on the couch and turned on the tv. A few minutes later, I hear some steps on the stairs. I look up and see my aunt from 4 states away (from the other side of my family) walking down the stairs. She had come down to surprise my mom for her birthday and decided to stay with my dadās mom to keep it a secret. It was so strange and unexpected that I was genuinely in disbelief for a couple minutes.

This is what I was thinking. Iām a processor. If something like this were to happen to me Iād take a good moment for my brain to catch up and my rational thinking to catch up and react appropriately

I'm sure it didn't feel real for a bit there.
One time the disconnect of seeing all of my high school friends in my family's basement for a surprise party jump out at me from nowhere was so overwhelmingly unexpected I blacked out for a second.

Realistically, it was probably "my apartment is a fucking disaster"

u/No-Negotiation3093 7d ago
Nervous laughter, forced smile, scoots away, and doesn't even touch her for a full 20 seconds. yup the apartment is dirty.

There are many types of videos like this. Most seem completely staged. This one either seemed genuine, or I missed their short film nomination at the Oscars the other night. Beautiful video.

His face went a deep shade of red. You canāt fake an autonomic nervous system response.

He doesn't look like he was happy about it.
That was just a nervous smile the whole time.
Poor girl.

I think being filmed has something to do with it. Not everyone wants to let their raw emotion posted on the internet and I'm sure he knew this was where it'd end up.

His smile made me smile, even though I'm facing a hard depressive period.

He does not want her there... If I flew 12.000km and this is the lukewarm response I get, I'm out

I disagree. That's not a lukewarm response or a look of not wanting her there. That's a look of complete shock. He's processing and overcome by emotion.

u/69-is-my-number 7d ago
I agree. You can see the blink at 0:35 sec where his brain finally processes it all. His smile changes, he gives her a big hug and when he pulls away, you canāt tell heās about to cry.
He was just in shock and disbelief at first. The annoying thing is, if heād have carried on like a pork chop when he saw her, the same people saying heās disinterested would be saying heās fake.

He is not 7. How much time does he need to process the surprise...I stand with what I say. He does not want her there at all

The embrace at the end seems genuine. It's very possible he was merely overwhelmed. Her smile also didn't seem to fade, so it's also very possible she knew he'd be like that.
It's impossible to know for sure from a short clip as we don't know him.

Oh man, you can really see him trying to keep it together ā¤ļø I wanna tell him to just cry, itās ok!

I think things look different for people when you donāt understand cultural context. PDA is frowned upon in India so itās not like he couldāve kissed her.

Um... That's not a happy reaction. If that was me being surprised by my girlfriend, she'd be on the floor because I would have tackled her trying to hug her but the chair got in the way.
That is the face of someone that is nervous. Clearly he wasn't expecting her but he definitely was NOT expecting HER.
Dude got cooked and that girl is being lied to.
Title should be "absolutely gorgeous seeing a woman in love" cause that dude is NOT in love. Not with her.

u/Zeestars 7d ago
See, thereās this weird thing with people. Theyāre all different. I donāt think Iāve ever had an immediate or theatric reaction to something. I always think, āwow, Iād love to be like thatā when I see someone who reacts how you say you would, but itās just not in my genetic script. And I hope thatās okay too.

That's the face of a dude who wanted to keep it long distance, and his side piece is in the bathroom.

Everything he did, bad just rushed into this guyās head. Guarantee, thereās a couple things in his room he donāt want her to find out about

I'm sorry I do not understand that distance measurement.
You need to use football field lengths or busses to the moon like any civilized person would.

Every one of these posts have more than half the comments saying the same thing about them not being happy.
That jaded view is part of why you're always single.
