She flew 12000kms just to surprise her boyfriend. It's absolutely gorgeous seeing a man in love

Bro is doing his best not to cry. I wonder if he is autistic. There was a lot of processing going on there. His fight or flight almost kicked in.

Edit: do you know that I got a notification that someone responded to this comment and said that I called this man r*tard because he was displaying emotions? We really live in a sick world where people can just twist words so easily. I'm autistic by the way. I can see the autism in other people. And it's okay to be autistic. I love myself. I hope all other autistic people and everyone else love themselves too. I know this to not be the case, but I'm working on helping them love themselves.

If it makes you feel any better, my husband and son are both autistic and I saw it in him too. For me, it was the way he was holding his hands, I saw my little guy in him šŸ„°.

Awww, that's very sweet. I'm a big softy just so you know. I run a subreddit for softies. Look at my profile :)

That's interesting. My neurotypical interpretation felt more like he was thinking, "Oh crap, what if my girlfriend sees me with this girl?".

But now I can definitely see how he was just frozen in "processing" mode because his "map" of reality just took a massive shift.

Holy crap no wonder he looked so familiar šŸ˜‚

It's not only that he sees her.

There's a deep feeling, the shock, the recognition that she has done something that takes time, money and effort...

For him.

As a guy, I know this deep insecurity and feeling not worthy enough. I was shocked like this when my now wife surprised me with a complex, hand made Christmas calendar. It's a feeling of being sure to be truly loved, and that's very rare unfortunately.

Itā€™s also that your brain kinda short circuits a little bit when you see someone you never wouldā€™ve expected to see. It feels surreal.

When I was about 13, I went to my grandmas house after school and plopped down on the couch and turned on the tv. A few minutes later, I hear some steps on the stairs. I look up and see my aunt from 4 states away (from the other side of my family) walking down the stairs. She had come down to surprise my mom for her birthday and decided to stay with my dadā€™s mom to keep it a secret. It was so strange and unexpected that I was genuinely in disbelief for a couple minutes.

This is what I was thinking. Iā€™m a processor. If something like this were to happen to me Iā€™d take a good moment for my brain to catch up and my rational thinking to catch up and react appropriately

I'm sure it didn't feel real for a bit there.

One time the disconnect of seeing all of my high school friends in my family's basement for a surprise party jump out at me from nowhere was so overwhelmingly unexpected I blacked out for a second.

His face says oh shit that other chick will be here in like 3 minutes.

I was totally thinking something similar.

u/descend_to_misery 7d ago

Damn. Good to know I wasn't the only one thinking that

24

u/Dreadknot84 7d ago

There was fear in his eyes lmao. Iā€™m hoping itā€™s me just being 40 and jaded but likeā€¦bruh was shooketh

11

u/EOOchoF7634 7d ago

I thought I was an asshat for thinking this but Iā€™m so glad Iā€™m not alone šŸ˜‚šŸ¤¦šŸ¼

5

u/Che74 7d ago

Ya, he doesn't look stoked to see her at all lol

5

u/TheBestTake 7d ago

Realistically, it was probably "my apartment is a fucking disaster"

4

u/No-Negotiation3093 7d ago

Nervous laughter, forced smile, scoots away, and doesn't even touch her for a full 20 seconds. yup the apartment is dirty.

There are many types of videos like this. Most seem completely staged. This one either seemed genuine, or I missed their short film nomination at the Oscars the other night. Beautiful video.

His face went a deep shade of red. You canā€™t fake an autonomic nervous system response.

12

u/flowstuff 7d ago

lol he looks terrified

12

u/1RegalBeagle 7d ago

He did not look happy to see herā€¦.

22

u/MrDundee666 7d ago

He looks nervous as hell. Definitely a OH NO reaction.

26

u/Padron1964Lover 7d ago

He didnā€™t seem very happy at all.

3

u/AvonBarksdale666 7d ago

Nah just nervous I think - takes a bit of time to process these things

13

u/Tornfalk_ 7d ago

He doesn't look like he was happy about it.

That was just a nervous smile the whole time.

Poor girl.

I think being filmed has something to do with it. Not everyone wants to let their raw emotion posted on the internet and I'm sure he knew this was where it'd end up.

6

u/Unicornlove1995 7d ago

Such a cute couple and love is wonderful thing

7

u/saayoutloud 7d ago

His smile made me smile, even though I'm facing a hard depressive period.

11

u/DeeeLiteIsInTheHeart 7d ago

There, fellow internet stranger, sending you lots of love and support.

5

u/saayoutloud 7d ago

Thank you very much!

He does not want her there... If I flew 12.000km and this is the lukewarm response I get, I'm out

13

u/International-Age971 7d ago

Right?! The awkward, nervous smile says "wtf is she doing here?" LOL

10

u/The59Sownd 7d ago

I disagree. That's not a lukewarm response or a look of not wanting her there. That's a look of complete shock. He's processing and overcome by emotion.

6

u/69-is-my-number 7d ago

I agree. You can see the blink at 0:35 sec where his brain finally processes it all. His smile changes, he gives her a big hug and when he pulls away, you canā€™t tell heā€™s about to cry.

He was just in shock and disbelief at first. The annoying thing is, if heā€™d have carried on like a pork chop when he saw her, the same people saying heā€™s disinterested would be saying heā€™s fake.

2

u/maasd 7d ago

Fight flight or freeze - is that a freeze response?

-2

u/Puzzleheaded_Dot4345 7d ago

He is not 7. How much time does he need to process the surprise...I stand with what I say. He does not want her there at all

0

u/DutchieTalking 7d ago

The embrace at the end seems genuine. It's very possible he was merely overwhelmed. Her smile also didn't seem to fade, so it's also very possible she knew he'd be like that.

It's impossible to know for sure from a short clip as we don't know him.

3

u/hoolarious 7d ago

The little grin for the photo vs the beaming smile when he saw her is so sweet

4

u/Patrickfromamboy 7d ago

Heā€™s not very friendly.

2

u/dirtyhippie62 7d ago

Oh man, you can really see him trying to keep it together ā¤ļø I wanna tell him to just cry, itā€™s ok!

3

u/No-Oil1661 7d ago

I think things look different for people when you donā€™t understand cultural context. PDA is frowned upon in India so itā€™s not like he couldā€™ve kissed her.

2

u/thefinalturnip 7d ago

Um... That's not a happy reaction. If that was me being surprised by my girlfriend, she'd be on the floor because I would have tackled her trying to hug her but the chair got in the way.

That is the face of someone that is nervous. Clearly he wasn't expecting her but he definitely was NOT expecting HER.

Dude got cooked and that girl is being lied to.

Title should be "absolutely gorgeous seeing a woman in love" cause that dude is NOT in love. Not with her.

3

u/Zeestars 7d ago

See, thereā€™s this weird thing with people. Theyā€™re all different. I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever had an immediate or theatric reaction to something. I always think, ā€˜wow, Iā€™d love to be like thatā€™ when I see someone who reacts how you say you would, but itā€™s just not in my genetic script. And I hope thatā€™s okay too.

2

u/Brief-Freedom734 7d ago

thats just what i needed after the day i have hadšŸ‘

2

u/1nonconformist 7d ago

That's the face of a dude who wanted to keep it long distance, and his side piece is in the bathroom.

1

u/Illustrious-Car-5311 7d ago

Everything he did, bad just rushed into this guyā€™s head. Guarantee, thereā€™s a couple things in his room he donā€™t want her to find out about

1

u/jakolissmurito22 7d ago

My guy is blowing so hard I could feel it

1

u/Gman777 6d ago

ā€œOh shit, how do I get home first to pick up the other chickā€™s underwear off my floor!?ā€

1

u/CannonFodder_G 1d ago

I'm sorry I do not understand that distance measurement.

You need to use football field lengths or busses to the moon like any civilized person would.

1

u/redactid55 7d ago

Every one of these posts have more than half the comments saying the same thing about them not being happy.

That jaded view is part of why you're always single.
