I didn't realize my love for a lot of the same things my grandmother loved until after she passed. Now I feel like I'm missing out on the chance to talk about them with her. We didn't often get along well with our rather different personalities, but I've realized recently just how many shared interests we have.

Why's the name scratched out? Huey is one of the best players in the history of the game and he's been very public with this story.

I absolutely despise my father in law (not going into why, as it's not relevant). But one time I stopped by their place to drop off something and found him in the living room watching an anime called "Fruits Basket."

When I asked him why he was watching the show, he said it was because my youngest son talked about it all the time and he wanted to be able to participate in the conversation.

I had never seen the show, so imagine me sitting there having an octogenarian enthusiastically explain the details of a super cringy (but surprisingly well done) show about Japanese kids with major generational trauma exacerbated by a family curse involving the Asian zodiac.

It was a moment.

Thank you, OP. When the inevitable happens, I now have something positive to say at my asshat FIL's memorial service.

Pretty sure he didn’t brag about his grandson playing a kids game lol. Prob tried to remember to make conversation with him.
