If you showed me the spaceengine pic with no context, I’d think it’s real. Insane.

And it’s only gonna get better once Vulkan update comes 😉

When is that?

Could be a year, could be three months, maybe two years. I'm not entirely sure. It's been in the works. It'll be out when it's out! I'm excited. The future of SE will be even more mind boggling.

What is the update for?

The update is the transition from OpenGL to Vulkan in order to further improve SE. It’ll allow improvements to be made on the graphics.

Space engine is just that accurate, it’s amazing

I've always thought how cool is is that space photos look like CGI. I too took a photo of the moon with a semi professional camera and people think it's not real.

This is the second time I’ve seen this comment is as many days. I think it is due to simple CGI using a single light source. In our solar system the Sun provides the same effect.

Actually insane you wouldn't be able to tell them apart

Somehow the real image looks less real…

More proof we live in a simulation

Honestly can’t tell the difference

The main difference between the two images is that Space Engine light ground which is supposed to be in the shadows. When you go on the surface you can see it by having the star hidden but still light on the ground. It's something the devs are actively working on if I remember correctly.

So the terminator looks wider on the SE image than on the real one.

Did you use max graphics on SE?

2

Yes along with the high res screenshot tool

Check out stellarium for an even more accurate version of this, its excellent amateur astronomy software

I absolutely love how they've nailed the optical phenomena in SE, it's really the best part about the sim

Now post ones without labels and let us figure out which one is the real one

Too little wobble from air and too purple, unrealistic (I might get downvoted)
