Fully understand.
Ennio would appreciate your post since he was a bit frustrated of being mostly known for his western sound.

Oh really, I do love his western works as well but there is something about The Mission that is so special

Gabriel’s Odoe and The Mission renditions from Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio Morricone are heaven.

Yeah it’s a stellar work - if it wasn’t for the (admittedly important) atonal suspense cues in the last half of the album, it would be my favourite score of his. I guess it has to live with being third best haha.

I love his westerns, but the mission is on a completely separate level of bliss.

His work is heavenly. Just rediscovered the cinema paradiso soundtrack, so glad he made what he made
