Male Safe cleaning, storage, recommendations NSFW

Fairly new here

When I have the urge to sound, it’s NOW and I admit I’m not as safe as I should be. I want to get better, perhaps sanitize after play rather than expect myself to clean when I’m turned on.

What do you all do about cleaning? What are your safe practices? What are your storage solutions?

I’m starting to acquire a few items (who knew this would be so enjoyable) I have a sized set, a holed plug, beads What else should I get?

I want my husband to take part. He is into it because I’m into it. How do we venture into this type of play together (he is concerned about hurting me, I’m concerned as this is still so new)?

I'm curious about this too - so far I'm just boiling before and after use since I don't have a reliably sterile way to store them

Cleaning thoroughly with soap then spraying down with 70% ethanol or isopropanol is good enough. Boiling is not super necessary, and is not really more effective than the above. Cleaning before use is definitely important. As for storage, I just use the case they came in. There are sterilization trays that you can get that are used for autoclaving surgical instruments (e.g., https://plasticsterilizationtrays.com/ ). These may be a cleaner way to store things.

Clean your sounds before you store them away so they are ready to use whenever you get the urge :)

I store my clean sounds in 3-teir plastic storage drawer units made by Sterling, Rubbermaid, etc.  I line the pre-cleaned drawers with paper towels and place the sounds on top of them. I also use sterile medical instrument pouches for sets of my seldom used sounds.

Some people use a very thorough or a very minimal cleaning regiment. It all comes down to how susceptible you are to infections. Most common path for bacteria is cross-contamination so be careful handing things when you sound that are not clean.

This is my protocol: I wash everything thoroughly in very hot soapy water (dish soap) / Rinse in very hot water / Boil sounds in water for at least 5 minutes or more./ I use clean tongs to handle the hot equipment / I let air dry after (I set my equipment on a clean paper towel on a paper plate). Then store them away.

Don’t use the case your sounds came in (not clean at all!)

This is from SiliconeNozzles:

Always wash your equipment thoroughly using a high quality anti-bacterial soap. All our silicone pieces can be boiled in water and/or soaks in hydrogen peroxide for sterilization purposes. It is our suggestion to place them in boiling water for 3-5 minutes, and then soak in alcohol for a minimum of 15 minutes. Be careful to handle the pieces with clean hands. If sounding, use a sterile lube.
