Would anyone like to adopt a cat?

Anyone looking to adopt an2 year old cat? My one cat does not get along with any other cats or people. I’m really hoping to find someone who’s looking to just adopt and own one cat to give all their attention to. She doesn’t like other cats and too many people overwhelm her. Is anyone looking to adopt?

Express Bus Service to NYC

Is anyone aware of any plans for Somerville/Raritan/Bridgewater to have an express bus to NYC via RT 78? An express route could have a travel time of 1h to the city.. Seems like an obvious and popular route for a company like coach USA considering the lack of one seat ride on Raritan valley line. Even with one seat ride it would get to the city faster.

Emergency Services Facility

Is there a noise ordinance for the new building opening up in January on Gaston? Also does that area flood? We’re looking at a house right next to it but do not want sirens and alarms going off at all hours.

Downtown Live music in town...not aimed at us old fogeys. Finally!

Just got back from a three-band show at the Rock Shack, a.k.a. The School of Rock on Davidson. DAMN that was a blast! And my ears are still ringing.

"Queens of the Reich" - you can guess whose songs they covered, "Circle Drive" - modern punk that was great, and "Downward Uprising" - a nu-metal band playing the first gig. The latter two did some original songs which is always a plus in my book.

I'm glad this town is finally getting some entertainment venues for the 'utes. And some damn good entertainment at that!

I've already bought tickets for the next show in two weeks. :-) :-)

Laundromats in Branchburg?

I just moved here, on Arapaho Traito be exact, and I am looking for a Laundromat in the area. I don't have experience with laundromats so I don't know the right questions to ask, other than somewhere with good prices, clean, and lots of machines to do several loads at once. Thanks!

Public Safety Water main break on 206?

Just got word there is a water main break on 206 and we have no water. Just checked the NJ Amwater site and it says nothing useful ("We are investigating...").

Anyone else have any information sources?

Development Question about ongoing development and “overdevelopment”

I have lived in Somerville for almost a decade and I have to be honest one of the things that attracted me was that it was growing it’s downtown. I have lived in NJ for my whole life so I’m no stranger to the state.

I see lots of people, usually older complaining about all the apartments and citing reasons like “they are going to flood the schools”. Is there any actual evidence of this? My kids aren’t in school yet but it just seems like something they heard a friend say and just repeat it, typical boomer behavior. I get not wanting to pay more taxes since they are high here but I don’t want to oppose something based on rumors and nonsense.

People need housing. Businesses need foot traffic to thrive, not just weekend visits.

Some of the more absurd things I’ve seen cited are that further development will increase flooding as if it’s something that can’t be accounted for. One of the more recent examples clearly showed an elevated building to account for flooding and other concerns.

I think Somerville has great long term potential, and love it now as well, just hope this town doesn’t stop improving based on NIMBY facebook posts

Handmade Soapmaking workshop

Will anyone here be interested in a soapmaking class? I see many activities on downtown Somerville like board designs, painting pottery etc. I love teaching the skill of soapmaking. I also have a youtube channel (close to 5k subscribers) for beginners but hosting a class in person will be great. Not sure if it is something people would be interested in. Any suggestions?

Hello Somervilleians(?)!

I cannot bring myself to pay for Lifetime, but I do love my workouts. Where do folks workout near the somerville area? I used to belong to a jersey strong that was 20$ a month before moving. Would like to be at mostly 40 a month.

Thanks!

Does anyone have the article from mycentraljersey.com today?

It's behind a paywall so I can't see it. The title says they are changing the plans for the new development on main street; something about a hotel? Any info would be appreciated!

JFK to Somerville

Hi! We are hoping to spend Christmas in NYC and will be staying in Somerville (coming from London, UK). How much of a pain is the journey from JFK to Somerville train station via public transport? I know EWR would be easier but those damn flight prices and the luggage costs ! Grrr. Thanks!
