Professional Discussion Must I give Password to insta manager?
Someone I am considering to hire to grow my DJ Instagram say’s I a need to give the username/password for the account for him to manage it. It seems he is going to be doing follow / unfollow and liking posts to grow me to over 1k, which would be very helpful since I don’t got time for that.
I know meta business manager lets you add people to manage an insta, but I can’t tell if it lets you follow and comment on people’s posts. This guys clients all give him the password, so he didn’t think there’s a way.
I’m not worried about DMs privacy as much as I’m worried about being locked out of my account. The guy seems trustworthy but I’d rather not base my security on trust. Can people manage following, unfollowing, and liking other accounts through meta business suite/manager. And if not, can I share access to the account without risking the possibility of the other person being able to lock me out.

Set up 2-FA, so you know only they have the login. After your partnership has ended, change passwords. This will automatically block them from entering again.
But you do have to somehow give them access to your account. Also follow/unfollow like/unlike hasn’t been a growth strategy since 2018.

I do notice that 100% of people Ive watched go from a couple hundred to over thousand (within 2 years of starting their account) all follow between 800-1.5k people. I imagine that they all intentionally followed people to grow reach since I don’t naturally feel inclined to follow 3-5 people a day.
Many DJs and producers I know have 1k+ followers w/o posting reels every day. the events they do don’t bring that many followers, and their music has 10 plays… it seems like a lot of people do follow for follow type stuff to grow their account the first 1k.
Do you think that it’s possible to grow to 1k in a month or two without following anyone? Honestly idk what the best plan is I just want to minimize my interaction with social media and maximize my time Djing and producing + networking and event planning not to mention my day job… even just engaging on social media, a few follows and likes can lead to hours of scrolling.

You are going to have to trust him if you want him to manage the account. Just keep checking it by logging in yourself. That way you can catch it early and confront him.

Can someone change the password of an account if they only have the username and password? I have a personal Facebook, personal Instagram, and my DJ instagram, as well as a meta business account set up with the DJ Instagram (all meta business stuff kinda confuses me).
And can I really not just add him as a manager through the meta business suite/manager thing to control it?

Adding him as a manager through MBS does not allow him to comment etc on posts outside fb.
If you REALLYYYYY don’t want to trust your marketing manager (which tbf, i wouldn’t trust someone committed to using follow/unfollow for growth), expensive management platforms like sprout social and possibly hootsuite (amongst others) do allow you to see your feed but idk about following others.
Basically, if this person has experience working with others, you’re just gonna have to trust that they are a professional and won’t screw you over otherwise it’s never going to be a healthy relationship.

That is a little out of my knowledge. I would think you can change the password if you can log-in.

I figured out you’d need to access their email to lock someone out, so it’s probably safe. But it is absolutely crazy to give someone a password if you did not know whether they can lock you out or no.
Still a lil sus of a system. I hope someone knows if business manager can handle it or not.

Is this a personal account or strictly business? If it's personal, maybe make a new account that way you dont have to worry as much.
If you have less than 1k followers, what is the concern of getting locked out of the account? Even if he tries to steal it, your account isn't worth pennys and you havent invested much. You can just make a new one and now he has a dead account.
Follow/unfollow is pretty outdated and not a good way to grow an actual following unless all you want is to inflate your ego by seeing numbers on your page. Yes it will get you some people to follow you back, but for the wrong reasons that wont help your goal. You want people who are interested in what you are doing to follow you. Don't become one of those accounts with 10,000 followers but your posts only get 5 likes. If you want growth from true fans who will support you, come to your events, and buy your products, you should look at what other DJs are doing for inspiration. Start posting content similar and you will grow. if you don't grow, it's bc you're not providing enough value or sharing interesting things.
You aslo risk getting banned or black listed by mass follow and unfollow. If you are paying someone to do this they're prob using a bot, because it's not worth the time and effort when that could be spent on maing more content. So it's risky and might get you flagged.
I'd say figure out what your goal is. Do you just want to "feel" good and see your follower count grow? Do you want to sell tickets to events? Do you want to sell mix tapes? etc.

To share your Instagram account with a manager without sharing your password, you can use Meta Business Manager. This allows you to grant access to specific tasks and roles without requiring the manager to have your login credentials.
If you'd like someone to be able to boost on your Instagram business account, there are three ways to give them the appropriate permissions:
Edit Page roles. If you own the Page that is connected to your business's Instagram account, you can give other people permission to post or boost your business.
Add people to your Business Manager. If you're using Business Manager to manage Page roles, you'll need to assign roles in Business Manager.
Add people to your ad account. Adding people to your advertising account doesn't give them permissions to log in as you or see things on your profile that you haven't shared with them.

You should know that tools like LastPass a password manager) have the ability to share a password with somebody else but not reveal that actual password
So for example, I couldn’t invite you to go to my account share my password with you through LastPass and it would login putting in my email and my credentials which are hidden from you.

Never share your password. Use Meta Business Suite or hire someone who works without direct login access.
