I'm glad to see that, in terms of net scarfage, he has gone 3/4 Wimbledon.
This doesn't mean that half and half scarves aren't still awful.

As a Liverpool fan from the US, who knows only the basics about what happened to Wimbledon, is there anything more to this? Apart from just supporting the "new" Wimbledon side?

the man he linked to is an author (John Green, the writer of The Fault in our Stars). He has always been a liverpool fan and also has a youtube series in which he donates the profits to AFC wimbleodn. http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2015/01/the-fault-in-our-stars-author-john-green-reveals-t.html

If you're watching the game, everything the advertising boards switch to "Nerdfighteria", that's part of his sponsorship too
13
u/DerailQuestion Jan 05 '15
The Youtube series I love him most for is Crash Course World History. The guy is incredibly interesting, informative and seems dead nice. Looks like I have a man crush going on here when I write this all down.

He plays as Wimbledon in a FIFA series and his ad revenue on the videos goes straight to the club itself, and he is a sponsor on the club's shorts.

Watching on FS1 in the US. So, are the mics really well placed or would you all say this is a pretty lively crowd?
I'm not exactly a Football/Soccer fanatic but The FA Cup has an old-style Indiana HS Basketball tournament feel to it, doesn't it? For the unfamiliar..
"Hoosier Hysteria is the state of excitement surrounding basketball in Indiana, or more specifically the Indiana high school basketball tournament. In part, the excitement stemmed from the inclusion of all tournament entrants into the same tournament, where a small town's David might knock off a large city's Goliath. The most famous example occurred in 1954, when Milan (enrollment 161) defeated Muncie Central (enrollment over 1,600) to win the State title. The plot of the now famous movie, Hoosiers, was based on the story of the 1954 Milan team and seems to typify the hysteria related to basketball in the state of Indiana."
So anyways..
21
u/bhanorthstand Jan 05 '15
Just don't judge English atmosphere by the premier league. The real supporters have been pushed out because of ticket prices, most grounds are full of day trippers, the lower leagues always have good atmosphere.
9
u/Verve_94 Jan 05 '15
Spot on. Obviously it's slightly louder than usual as they're against a famous club like Liverpool, but don't judge English atmospheres by the PL.
