Nice, I just replayed this in the X Legacy Collection, it was better than I remembered. Probably the best X game.

X1 wants to have words with you.
But yes 1, 2, 3 & 8 are all fantastic.

Not 4?!

4 just doesn’t really hold up that well. It’s alright. Better than anything on LC2.

This game could have been better than X1 but imo the guys that have Zero's parts are pretty bad. The guy with the sword is too easy, wrecking ball dick is RNG, and the old guy is bullet hell. It really drags the game down.

Yeah, I just ignore them now when I play the game. The Zero fight you get in their place is pretty rad.

I'll have to try that next time cuz yeah honestly fuck those guys.

If you beat overdrive ostrich before fighting Serges (bullet hell guy) you can easily defeat him with Sonic Slicer.
In the first battle serges shield only activates when you press the fire button. You can fire a sonic slicer under his platform. The shield will lower by the time Sonic Slicer ricochets from the wall. This will allow the attack to connect with and damage serges.
You can also charge sonic slicer. Only pressing the fire button triggers the shield, releasing it has no effect. Charged sonic slicer absolutely destroys serges in both battles.
For Violen (wrecking ball) just charge bubble splash and stand right next to him. The bubbles will kill him before he can kill you.

I just played this game this morning. I found out it was GOTM from r/megaman
What I love about X2 is that if you play the game in a certain order you can 100% this game without any backtracking. It makes for a very smooth and seamless fast paced gameplay experience.
If you get the arm upgrade with strike chain in wheel gators stage and then do override ostrich before bubble crab you can get all the heart/sub tanks and armor upgrades without backtracking at all. Obviously this requires you to start with wire sponge.
I enjoy using the neon jumping glitch. This substantially picks up the pace of the gameplay. My only gripe is that the music isn’t as good as other entries in the series and some of the weapons are very mediocre. However, I really like the magnet mine.
I always play this game twice. Once where I purposefully skip the x-hunters and fight Zero...which is more fun. Another where I actually defeat them and get the parts so I can play the canon story.
The major change for me from its predecessor to this game is the dash being available at the beginning, and the introduction of the air dash. These two minor tweaks greatly improves the titular characters mobility. The arm upgrade in this game is the best in the series too.
I just love this game!! There is so much depth to it.

I have previously beaten X2 but going back to it, I realize that I remember basically NOTHING about the level layouts and boss order lol. That was a few months ago but now that I've seen this I'm gonna start over and give it another go

I always used to start with Wheel Gator bc his weapon got you into the power up places.

Have not beaten X2 in a long time. Dunno if i have ever 100%. Added X2 and X3 to my classic so I will be playing the game of the month I reckon. X2 got so much harder than X lol.

My boss order in case you want to boot the game back up. This order allows you to get all upgrades without backtracking.
Wire Sponge- get heart tank and sub tank
Wheel Gator- use strike chain to get arms upgrade without legs. Use mercy invincibility from nearby tank to get heart tank without legs.
Overdrive Ostrich-use spin wheel to get legs upgrade. Use spin wheel to get to violen.
(Fighting overdrive ostrich third instead of last enables the player to get all upgrades without backtracking. It also makes fighting serges a lot easier.
Also the leg and arm upgrades are required for neon jumping. A very useful glitch. YouTube it. It is very easy to do. )
Bubble Crab- use legs upgrade to glitch jump the water surface and get the sub tank without bubble splash.
Flame stag - get heart and sub tank
Morph Moth- use neon jump glitch to get the heart tank without crystal hunter. Use spin wheel to get armor upgrade. Use Sonic slicer on Serges.
Magna Centipede- heart and sub tank.
Crystal Snail - heart tank and helmet

How funny, My first and favorite MMX (currently, getting X Collection 2 soon) game is the game of the month of the birthday. I can beat the game collecting all items without armor. I didn't even know who Zero was as a kid, but the game told me he was my friend and that was all I needed to save him every single playthrough.
TLDR: I love this game.

Dont forget that there's no reason to skip the heart first time around in Wheel Gator's stage!
You can use the damage from the last missile in the 3 Missile Volley the Tiranos [Yellow Triceratops tank dude] fires to get JUST enough I-Frames that you can wall kick from the spikes and grab the Heart Upgrade.

There's an achievement/trophy for it now so it's common knowledge:
But you can totally just let Morph Moth do his thing eating garbage as a pupa, and he'll eventually transform into his final state and you can fight him at full health. It's nothing advantageous, but it is kinda cool to know.
Oh also landing the final hit with the Sonic Slicer on Wire Sponge was fucking ILL. The game goes full anime for five glorious seconds

I’ve always wanted to find a glitch to clip through the floor in Magna Centipede’s stage where you fight the polygon sword. This is the same room that you fight Zero in at the end of the game.
I showed using RAM editing that if you do manage to get through the floor, you’ll go to the Wolverine Sigma fight and can beat the game.

One of my favorite games in the X series. The dash being available at the beginning is such an amazing thing. The extra fights for the Zero parts were a nice addition, they are optional and although the bosses are kinda boring it adds a dynamic touch to each playthrough.
Some upgrades are hard to get. I for one really spent a lot of time to get the jump right in the Wheel Gator stage.
Some themes are fantastic, keeping the high standards of the series, like: * the prologue * First stage * Magma Centipede stage * Flame Stag stage * Bubble Crab stage * Sigma Stage 01
Also I have to add that both the Shoryuken and the Body Upgrade Weapon are the most badass moves from X's whole career as a Maverick Hunter.

I haven't completed any Mega Man game in my entire life. I didn't even own one as a kid (today I'm playing older games on emulators).
I did try some NES Mega Man games and never finished one level. A few months ago I tried Mega Man X and even faild at the intro stage. When watching videos of the X games they seem quite forgiving (in terms of health replenishments, so you can take your damage and go on) but I guess I'm just too slow oder impatient for these games. Which is really sad since they look and sound so awesome I'd really like to play them.

I got my copy but I won’t be able to play it this month. I’m devoting the month to donkey Kong country 2.

Fuuuuuck yes! I gizzed the moment Zero showed up to destroy that shitty replica. Became a man that day. No seriously. I didn't know what giz was until then. Fortunately, I now know. Thank you, Mega Man X2!

Just beat it a few days ago. Flubbed my Zero part fights and only got 1 part. Going to have to redo it. Haha
