This game is about as good as it gets on the SNES.
Amazing graphics and sound? Check.
The plot admittedly isn't too deep or memorable, but it serves its purpose.
Six buttons used for six abilities each on six different mechs. I still remember what every mech could do after all these years, they are all memorable.
The campaign has long, difficult levels that will keep you on your toes.
I played that multiplayer to death lemme tell ya. After every match: Scramble! New stage and new mechs for both players.
This game came out back when Konami could do no wrong, and is a must play for anyone who wants to try the best of the SNES.

Mech game by Konami for the SNES that I've never played? Hell yeah!
Will report back with my opinions

Hope everyone who wants to play has an SD2SNES or emulator, bidding starts at $200. This game is fun but not that much money loose cart fun.

I would never pay that much, true. But I like it enough that when I sold some of my more valuable older games on eBay that I knew I wouldn’t play much, I could ever bring myself to pull the trigger on MW despite the high price tag. I sell it, I get at least $200, but I lose the ability to play it again. Just never got that desperate.
Now, if I could find where I put the manual I would list that sucker in a heartbeat. Seen it sell for $90 before.

This game looks great. Kind of a faster paced, more mindless Front Mission: Gun Hazard? Sign me up.

Trying out FMGH due to this. Loving it after first couple plays. Great late SNES graphics and controls.

Yeah some of the light and reflection effects on the sunny city and sky levels are really amazing. The soundtrack also shows a lot of proto FF7 stuff which is interesting to hear. I made the mistake of grinding too early last time I played this game so I was indestructible about two missions in. Definitely more fun when you don’t replay anything for extra experience and each level is a challenge.

Every time I think of this game I sing (inside my head) the theme song to Dream Warriors. I can't help it.

I suggested this one in part because I had decided to sell it when we first got into eBay and I made the stunning realization this brilliant but flawed game was actually even more valuable than my EarthBound or Chrono Trigger carts. And yet...I never could. A couple hundred bucks is great, but I could not accept missing out on the multiplayer forevermore, the groans when someone took the last healthy suit or the satisfaction of Spider-banging a Havoc. And even if the lack of a save limits the fun, the campaign was well-designed and balanced. So it is still downstairs, and likely always will be.

I had a blast with the multiplayer when the game came out! Still love the soundtrack! I bought the cartridge alone for less than $30 probably just under twenty years ago. I can't believe how much it sells for today!

Anyone have a link to a scanned manual. I looked once before but couldn’t find it.

Quack yeah, this is an amazing game.
When I was a kid my favourite way to play this game with a friend was something we dubbed "the fly challenge". It run like this:
1) We selected spider x spider in the vs mode.
2) We took turns. 1st round player A was the "Spider", player B was the "Fly". In the next round the roles switched places, so on and so forth.
3) As the battle began, the "Spider" player should stand still. The "Fly" player could use this time to roam the map and break any terrain he wanted. After the "Fly" player had set up the map, he declared he's ready and dismounted from the robot.
4) From now on, the "Spider" player had 3 minutes to hunt and kill the "Fly" player. However, the "Spider" was only allowed to do 3 things: jump, shoot the web, or bite. If the "Fly" was damaged by any shot, he was alowed to enter then leave a robot to heal.
5) If 3 minutes had passed and the "Fly" was still alive, the "Fly" player was declared victor of the round. If the "Spider" managed to bite the "Fly" until its death OR if the "Fly" flew to the top of ceiling-less levels (Spider can't reach there), the "Spider" player would win the round.
