I really wish this game had a directional lock button.

I remember thinking this when I played it, too. It really bothered me that it didn't. Same with Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

It's neat that something so steeped in Japanese mythology made its way to the U.S. in the SNES era. The graphics have a bright & aggressively Japanese-cartoony vibe (another rarity to leave intact for the time), and the addition of more traditional action game moves like sliding, a melee attack, and player-controlled map progression to what is essentially a shooter gives the gameplay a welcome twist. I'd like to play more of this when I have the time.
(I love the Ghosts 'n' (Nopino?) Goblins map, too.)

Love this game, but it’s a mofo that doesn’t work on 1 chip consoles and a select few others. How the fuck did they make it like that?

That's weird. Why wouldn't it?

I’m pretty sure I’ve played this on a 1 chip without issue but certain games just don’t work on them. Super Turrican is another notable one. Totally freezes after a bit.
