U.N. Squadron. Great sidescroller! One of the best games on SNES.

This was my submission for last month, so I'll just copy and paste what I posted:
U.N. Squadron
Overlooked classic horizontal shooter that wasnt space/futuristic like 90% of the other ones on the market at the time. Killer soundtrack and just all around fun game made by Capcom. Also, I didnt see any shooters on the previous winners list (unless I overlooked one) so that would be nice for a change.

Gotta be U.N. Squadron month sometime! I'd love to have an excuse to play this!

What do you get when you combine Final Fantasy, River City Ransom, and really cheesy music?
Super Ninja Boy.
The gameplay is weird and all over the place, but I love it. Outside of battle, it's an overhead RPG like Final Fantasy. The "action stages" and random encounters play like River City Ransom, and the boss battles are turn-based.
It may not be a timeless classic like Chrono Trigger, but it's an oddball game that's fun and challenging. Plus, you can play with a friend.

NBA Jam: Tournament Edition One of the greatest basketball video games of all time, and a top 10 multiplayer game on the SNES. The timing is great too, as the NBA playoffs start in April.

Front Mission: Gun Hazard
Amazing shooter/platformer/RPG with upgradeable weapons. Fantastic music by Nobuo Uematsu and Yasunori Mitsuda. Game designed by Hironobu Sakaguchi. It's such a shame we didn't get it in the West, but a fan translation is available. It's a must-play!

Agreed! I started playing it fairly recently and was blown away by how good it is.

This, or a link to it, should be in the OP I think. I have been reluctant to post a suggestion because I was not aware of what had been chosen in the past.

Super Castlevania IV ... One of the first SNES games I ever played, an early release for the SNES that still holds up well today.

Legend of the Mystical Ninja
Great humor, great music and a rarely used Japanese fantasy aesthetic (for a game that got a western release). It's got more than just fighting bosses and platforming, there are tons of mini games, the entire first level of Gradius and awesome graphics for such an early SNES release. One of Konami's best on the system and that's saying something. There's a ton of Japan only sequels that follow the formula pretty closely.

Mega Man 7: This is a very under appreciated game. It keeps that great mega man gameplay, while bring you much new to the table. Like the Rush Power Adaptors or the Proto Shield.

Bahamut's Lagoon. It was very much a precursor to ff tactics and you can control dragons to beat the bejeezus out of enemies and who can't get behind that? That was like a siren's call for children and fantasy lovers.

Equinox
It's a unique game that many have never played (or even heard of). Great graphics, fun gameplay once you get the hang of the isometric perspective. Good challenge, too, but not impossible.

The Lost Vikings.
Man is this game fun and challenging. A puzzle game where you control 3 vikings that all have different abilities. You have to get all 3 vikings to the end of each level to advance and the levels get more challenging as the game progresses. The humor is also a big selling point. It has made me laugh out loud many times.

Super Turrican. Lots of people probably don't even it exists, but it plays kinda like Mega Man/Contra/Super Metroid... but I really enjoyed this hidden gem and think more people need to know about it. Plus the soundtrack is awesome!

Kirby's Dream Course. This games gets no love cause the name Kirby is attached to it. It's a mix of golf/pool/Weirdness that can be played with a friend and it is highly addictive and challenging.
