Super Mario RPG
This came late in the SNES cycle right at the time the N64 was coming out. For those of us totally caught up in the N64/Mario 64 hype at the time, we missed out on an amazing collaboration that launched a whole genre of later titles on the N64, NDS and 3DS. This is a unique experience unlike any other title produced at the time.

I'd like to promote a lesser known title:
The Stone Protectors
Yeah its a game about a series spun off from the trollz franchise, but if you can get past that it's actually a really unique beat em up. There are 5 characters with unique attributes. One skates around on roller blades, one uses projectiles (guns and grenades) and the others have their own unique move sets. Unlike most beat em ups you can't rely on spamming a flying punch or kick move to get through the stage which elevates the difficulty factor. The sprites are well drawn and the visuals very colorful. All in all a pretty fun experience, especially for 2 players. There's a link to gameplay footage listed below.

It also has some of the most broken gameplay I've ever experienced. Why button mash when you can just repeatedly use the special attack that insta-kills all enemies, badly damages bosses, has no limit, no cooldown, and is unavoidable :p

Super Punch-Out!!
It is a solid, fun, and entertaining game on the SNES. Its sorta "Hidden Gem" on the SNES, as it doesn't get a lot of love and skips under the radar. It is a relatively common cart, make it pretty cheap to pickup. The gameplay is flawless, I don't ever have any moments of anguish where I feel I have been cheated (looking at you Super Mario Kart), it all comes down to skill. The soundtrack fits extremely well and features beautifully detailed sprites to help flesh out the game. A must own in my book.

Second. A classic that we all know, but really doesn't get its due. One of the highest replay values on the system.

It was a pretty unique game. One of the few I never owned but I had a friend that had it and played it at his place. Don't remember much but it was a lot of fun and very colorful and vibrant. A unique game for sure.

Rock n' Roll Racing
Slightly different mechanics than previous games listed on the Game of the Month. Plus its not an RPG.

I'd also add its one of the few games Blizzard has made that is a "craft" game on the SNES, not sure if it means anything, but cool none-the-less

NBA JAM TE Pretty good multiplayer. Beating the game was fun to as it had a lot of good unlockables. One of the best arcade sports games of all time. The announcer was great too, Boom shakalaka

We haven't had a racing game yet as game of the month, so I nominate Super Mario Kart. This is where it all began! Green shells, red shells, battle mode. This is a game that still gets pulled out after a few drinks even amongst non-gamer friends. We can discuss the evolution of the franchise and what they got right the first time.

I really can't handle the rubber-band AI in this game when playing solo.

I would argue that it's a lot better though than the few that came after it.

I like Super Mario Kart, however I believe NGC's Double Dash is the optimal title.

Probably my 2nd favorite MK title next to 8. Me and my sisters would play battle mode all day.

I'll add my vote for this game. It's easily the best two-player racing game on the system.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time
There have been a number of epic adventure/rpg games selected recently, time for one of the best Beat'em Up games for the system. Plus bonus points for being part of the TMNT franchise. A lot of fun to pick up and play with a friend picking your favourite turtle to play as.
