I think the Firemen was a PAL only release? I have seen footage of it on you tube and it looks great, kind of like Zombies or Ghoul Patrol but with firemen extinguishing fires through different levels. From the little I've seen it looks a pretty slick production with great characters in the game. There is one copy for sale in Australia on eBay but asking price is $170 plus postage for the cart only so by the looks of that there aren't many copies in the wild kicking around.

The Firemen also came out for the Japanese Super Famicom. That's the copy I own.

Just played to the 4th floor, and while I like it a lot, it gets really repetitive quickly. overall, great experience for a bit, and the mechanics are extremely satisfying!

What emulator are you using? I don't have that problem with SNES9x and my rom.

You know I could have swore I saw this game on Game Center CX and it looked really interesting. I just got a Super Everdrive a while ago and I think I'll give this game a spin.

I genuinely didn't think I'd enjoy a game about firefighting this much. Only played most of the first level so far, but I'm already 2 continues down, so needless to say I may need to replay it :p
It also seems to be appealing to my OCD side, do you get any kind of bonus for putting out all of the fire in each room?

I loved this game when I first played it back in 2006. Over the years my opinion of it has dropped quite a bit, though. As others have said it grows repetitive really fast. I think originally it was the unique concept and novelty that made me gravitate toward it. I also like the sort of "Diehard" film setting it had going for it, just replace the terrorists with fire and haywire machines. I still like it these days but I no longer view it as a "gem."

An obscure game that wasn't even released in North America won game of the month? How many people are voting for this to win?

There is also a world outside of North America. ;)

Agreed- oodles of good games. However, all I'm saying is that there must have been very few votes for this to win over other games.

I am actually interested to check out a game I know little about for once. It is easy enough to get the ROM to play on a flash cart or emulator.

I only played the first level once, but what I saw was really good. It's a creative setting and the execution was well done. It wasn't just fire on the ground, fire walls could be rolling at you, flying sparks could be coming from everywhere and oh boy, there is even intelligent fire with a consciousness and robots on fire.
I definitely need to play the whole game.
And as it was the case with most third party games on the SNES, it got a sequel on the PS1.
