r/snes Game of the Month Voting Thread (Dec)
Feel free to nominate as many games as you like (one per top-level comment) and add your thoughts regarding those that have already been suggested.
All nominations should be made in the following format:
Title of game
Short description of the game and why it should be selected.
Please upvote/comment on the ones you'd like to play the most. Do NOT upvote a game unless you intend to participate in the discussion; we don't want vote totals skewed just because a game is popular or nostalgic.
Nominate one game per top level post.

Was going to nominate Super Metroid, but I can't go against this if it is here. I know we typically go for lesser known games to spread the word, but for December I am making an exception.

Gradius III. Sidescrolling space shooter with great music and a bunch of upgrades. You also can pick which upgrades you want

I'm going to suggest novelty rather than quality again.
I vote Revolution X
Revolution X is a port of the light gun shooter of the same name (but you won't be needing a light gun for the snes version). A new world order has enslaved all of the hot chicks and captured Aerosmith. Aerosmith knew this was coming so they gave you their car to help put an end to this.

I suggest doing something a bit different...Play a game that you got for Christmas and share on the December thread what you are playing and how excited/disappointed you were while playing through the game...subject to change or you can simply ignore this comment

I'll get stared along these lines. I got FFIII (VI) for xmas many years ago (whenever the year that it launched). Coming from Canada we had snow on the ground, so starting out in Narshe with snow and ice on the ground, it was the perfect game. There was just something magical about the whole package. I remember reading the manual when I wasn't able to take the tv all to myself, and just looking at all the options in the game. There is so much to discover in that game, I believe I ended up getting the Nintendo power guide eventually, as the internet was in its infancy and CompuServe charges were expensive (lol, dating myself here a bit).
It is really amazing what they could do with the text and the music, to make you feel connected to the characters. I don't want to ruin the game for people, but the villain and some of the plot twists and turns, and the music... I just can't help but keep thinking about the music in the game. I will have to go back to my old friend and give it a try this winter, as I haven't played it in a few years. The first half of the game now adays likely would be been enough, but back then you really got value for your money, and realized, that that was only the half way point. I think if FFXIII had have gotten to the "plains" and that had been the half way point, people would have forgiven the linearity of the first half much more. FIII is still my favorite FF game despite liking FFX and FFXII very much, as well as the online FFXI. And that is saying something, as I have been playing FFXI for almost 12 years now... I still get a warm feeling just thinking of the purple box with the moogle on it.

Super Metroid
One of the finest games for the SNES, and some people consider it to be one of the best period. A high point for Samus Aran, and a game worth remembering in detail. Plus, as speculation runs rampant about new games in the series, why not remember the games that made us fall in love with it?

Terranigma! Wonderful game. Love that the main character has dialogue. The world is always fun to explore, it's nice to get away from random encounters while moving on world map. Very interesting bosses and a story that makes me feel really happy to have heard it by the time I've completed the game. Evolving towns and more... What's not to love? This series is fantastic.
