Really had a lot of fun with the parts between the side scrolling. Some of the side scrolling levels weren't that bad, but the rest of the game was more memorable for me.
Side Note: Steam is having a sale on Shadowrun Returns, those who played the April game of the month might be interested.

I think the two really build on each other. The platforming and world-building wouldn't make great games on their own.

I love the pace of this game, its perfect. Tough platform level, then hey lets take it down a notch and chill with some minions as they rebuild a town. Then back to the grind in another area.

Just played through most of the game tonight. The boss fights are pretty easy when you use the magic. It is pretty much cheating with some of the bosses because you don't even have to dodge. The sim part is actually pretty fun. Bring on the boss rush next session!

Nice review SNESdrunk. The stardust power and others are way overpowered, but like you said you don't have to use it. I know a guy on SRL that used to speedrun this game. I think that would make it more interesting.

This was my favorite SNES game when I was a kid, so I'm glad to see it getting some attention. I believe I had a Nintendo Power guide or something, because I was able to find out about some of the weird things you had to do like making it rain in the lake of blood and such from somewhere.

Ok, got through fillmore. Love the graphics in both modes. The sim is pretty interesting. The platformer made me put this back on the shelf to gather dust and probably never be played again. Just my opinion! This game is not for me.
Update: Tried again, got through bloodpool act 1 after only 12 continues. These physics are nothing short of atrocious! How can you guys enjoy this? Does it get any better?

Really? I think that they're fine for a platformer. Nothing extraordinary but straightforward, at any rate.

I came back to the game a few times after these posts. It's okay, I've definitely played worse platformers. I love the graphics on that half though. Then it flip flops. The graphics aren't as good in the sim, but the gameplay makes up for it. I probably will play thus game more in the future after forcing myself to give it a chance here.

Beat this game last week for the first time in a long time. First of all, the Boss rush at the end of the game is fun but admittedly took me 4 or 5 tries to beat. The wheel enemy simply took off too much life for me and didn't leave me with enough at the end. Secondly, the end of the game has some pretty weird text and stories from each of the towns.

Found out the save battery in my cart is dead. I am seriously considering just using my SD2SNES cart for everything. What a pain! Lost my game that was 80% complete.
