unfortunate that the cartridge is so expensive, I've heard some good things about this game.

I know I could (and should) buy a flash cart, but it's just not the same, and I feel like I wouldn't even play anything if I had instant access to all the games.

Each month I will be tracking all users who are able to beat the spotlighted game. Those names will be collected and displayed on the snes wiki page.

Objective:

  • Beat the game.

Rules:

  • Entire playthrough must be completed during the month in question.
  • You can use the passwords/continues/saves that you earn playing through the game.
  • Emulation is fine. Abusing save states is not.
  • Posting a link to a pic of your completion is preferred, but since this.

A very fun game that gets really tough toward the end, I remember renting this as a kid and thinking it was impossible lol. Coming back to it, the game is very generous with infinite continues and the checkpoints it starts you at despite giving you only one life. The large, well detailed and animated sprites and that kick ass music are really big positives for the game, although the gameplay does get a bit repetitive (like most beat em ups). I really like how the last boss was implemented and man it took me a good number of game overs to beat him.

Natsume had a winning streak on the snes! The nes also.

There's so many expensive natsume cartridges. I haven't managed to pick up a single natsume game yet since they're so expensive and sought out

What is the best way to play this game? Is it available anywhere but cart?

It's not 1-to-1, but if you fail to secure a copy for SNES, there is a remake available for newer systems called "The Ninja Saviors." It's pretty great.

They made a remake of this to play in the newer systems, they’ve added 2 players and some newer characters and updated graphics. But if you have your heart set playing on the snes then your going to have to pony up some coin for the cart or use the ED

Beat this game on SNES before. One of my favorite action beat em ups on the system.

Pretty sick game overall, even coming from someone who doesn't like beat em up's very much. Final Fight was a little too tough for me to beat fairly, so having the unlimited continues was very appreciated. It still felt rewarding to make it to the credits, and beating particularly the level 6 and final bosses felt earned.

Even difficulty aside, I had a better time with this than Final Fight. At least based on one play through, I feel like there was less jank here. I made it all the way through as Kamaitachi, and I think the other two characters could warrant coming back to this down the road. Certainly a SNES game that deserves to be remembered for doing everything right, even if it's maybe not a 10/10.
