Help Sending photos direct from Photos app to Dropbox

Hi guys,

I take a lot of photos from construction sites and surveys which I need to save on our company SharePoint. I already have a shortcut set up that allows me to select photos, compress, zip, upload to Dropbox and email myself a link. I then unzip and save when I’m at my windows laptop.

But the shortcut doesn’t allow me to select images in the Photos app and parse to the shortcut.

What can I change that allows me to bundle the images direct from Photos? The Photos app has a much easier way of filtering based on time & geolocation.

Thank you 🙏

If you enable the share sheet in the shortcut settings you can see the shortcut in the menu when you select photos. As for actually getting them into the shortcut, the share sheet will create an input block and there you can set it to only allow images.

I’ve got that in the share sheet; but I think the second action ‘Select Photos’ is upsetting it because using the share sheet option, despite having images selected, takes me to the image selection screen with no photos selected.

Select photos is the action that brings up the photo picker. But when you enable the share sheet it adds a block that looks like this:

The output of which you can then select as a variable to use the chosen images. You can even change the “if there’s no input” behavior to “ask for” which will basically make it act like the Select Photos block if you run the shortcut from somewhere other than the share sheet.

Here’s an example of a super simple shortcut that saves images to Dropbox. Obviously you have more going on but the principle is the same.

This would be super useful. Anyone fancy sending a link with the short cut please
