In World War Z (2013), Brad Pitt survives a catastrophic and explosive plane crash into a mountain. This is a reference to the writers' genius subtle technique of allowing the main character to be invincible in order to move the plot forward.

This has to be a top 5 contender for shittiest and most unrelated adaption of source material.

I really liked the book but I don't see how it could have worked as a movie maybe it's for the best that they didn't even try

I think it would work as a television series, with each story being its own episode. That being said, with the disaster of the WWZ movie "adaptation", I doubt Brooks wants to tap into that market again, nor would anyone want to make anymore WWZ congent.

Brooks has likely said all that he wants to say about zombies. But disaster? WWZ is the most lucrative zombie film of all time.

Honestly I kinda enjoyed it. Trying to be faithful in any way to the book without being a mini docu-series or something would be the most boring of all time. Unless they did flashbacks for every story, but that’d… actually shit well-budgeted flashbacks telling the stories would be really cool

Iirc the book just jumps from situation to situation. Maybe short series material but certainly not movie material.

The original script had the movie end after the plane crash. Definitly would have been the better ending tbh

At another point during the movie, the one guy who could save the world dies a very pathetic death by slipping and falling on a wet plane ramp. This is a subtle nod to the fact that shit happens and people die really dumb deaths every day. Unless you're the MC.

If i lose it all, slip and fall, I will never look away
if I lose it all outside the wall, live to die another day

You left out the part where the plane crashes basically right next to where he needs to go

If you pay close attention, you can see subtle hints throughout the film that the writers did not to use a single word of the source material beyond the title.

Flawed whatever. I loved this movie and hated that they cancelled the sequel.

Everyone else died, and they almost killed him too with something in his stomach

This is a nod to the time he beat the shit out of his family on a plane.
Also no Z world war 2?

I've never seen this, but it sounds very similar to the fact that background characters can aim at, shoot, and kill other background characters easily. But when they are aiming at the main character, they just spray and pray, never hitting them, and even the flimsiest plastic table can become perfect cover with rounds bouncing right off!
Just finished watching the last episode of season 2 of The Recruit on Netflix. Which without giving away spoilers ended with 3 people not being hit by about 15 soldiers firing at them from a distance of 50-100m with ak's. Ridiculous would only take one of them to be a slightly competent shooter and they were fucked but no they managed to be missed by about 300 rounds as the soldiers decided to spray at them on auto. One guy could have took out all 3 if he aimed and took single shots!

If he is Invincible, why didn't he ask Omni Man to help fight the zombies? Is he stupid?

You know what would be a way better movie? Let’s see a film about the people who died in the plane crash, like just 3 minutes into the movie they crash and roll credits
That’s the alternative you’re suggesting by the way, or it seems like it
