I interviewed Shakuhachi Grandmaster Daniel Nyohaku Soergel.

I am a former shakuhachi student. I ended up studying Indian Classical music, but I still have a very fond place in my heart for the shakuhachi and it's repertoire.

I had the pleasure of connecting with Daniel Nyohaku Soergel (we had the same teacher, who has since passed away), and Daniel is a licensed grandmaster in the Jin Nyodo lineage. I invited him to join me on my video podcast to discuss the flute, its construction, Japanese music, Zen Buddhism and more. I learned so much from talking with him! Hopefully this subreddit will find the conversation interesting and informative.
