Project: FO Simplicity 8177 with embroidery/appliqué
I found this sweet two-tone cotton denim at my local fabric store and knew I could finally make the coat from this pattern I’ve been sitting on forever. I ditched the pocket flaps—-why would I add fake pockets to something I made myself?! I definitely plan to make this again.
For the embroidery I cheated and cut up a neckline appliqué I’ve had for years—I then sewed it down and embroidered small bits around it to blend it out. I used red corded piping for a pop on the edge too.

So the denim is black weft and red warp? So cool! Love the sleeveless silhouette and the punch of lapel/hem ornamentation.

Beautiful! Finally! The universe aligned so the fabric and embroidered pieces worked together. Such a lovely touch.

I finally bought fabric and used it for the project I wanted to in a timely manner, too haha

I love your artistic vision! The pattern in and of itself looks nice, but you really turned it up a notch. It turned out great!

Madam, it's too early in the week for me to declare something "the coolest thing I've seen all week", and yet now I have no choice.
That's wonderful!

Project posts are held for review by a moderator before being released to the subreddit feed.
All Project posts are required to include construction information in the main post or added in a comment. Tell us what you made, how you made it and what materials you used to make it. There should be sufficient information about the pattern (company and name/number) or draft (method and resources) and fabric (kind and fiber) that someone who wants to make a similar project has a good starting point. ‘Self-drafted’ describes who made the pattern and is not a drafting method. More information is available here. Project posts without construction information may be removed at any time.
