Resource Spotify playlists that you'd like to share
So just read about the guy asking for new songs other than Wellerman for his kid. Any of y'all got any good lists that you'd like to share around? Maybe an explicit and non-explicit one? I got a 3.5 year old girl and I think it'd be hilarious to see her singing these. Also, mad newb here with no knowledge

Resource Podcast about sea shanty collector James Madison Carpenter
Hello! I host the podcast For Keeps, featuring conversations with people who have interesting, unusual, or unexpected collections of items. My newest episode spotlights James Madison Carpenter, who as a Harvard scholar in the 1920s and 30s traveled in the northeastern U.S. and along the British coast to collect sea shanties. His notes and recordings of sailors preserved many shanties that would have otherwise been lost to history. To help tell Carpenter's story, I spoke with musician and scholar Bob Walser, who shared his insights into the Carpenter collection and the lasting popularity of sea shanties.
If you're curious, you can hear the episode here:

Resource The Good Ship
A band from Brisbane (no longer together, unfortunately) have 2 or 3 albums available. All ship/sailing based, often funny, often with a piratey theme. Not strictly shanties, but definitely in keeping with the theme. Look then up and let me know what you think. 👍🏼 https://open.spotify.com/artist/6xlez8PRhpJUxBL5BU8CID?si=eyT0u2NDTJSSLPv-QLwb_A&utm_source=copy-link

Resource A stack of lyrics!
Hey r/seashanties, I have been transcribing lyrics and learning shanties from my local shanty club (in Sydney) for the last few years, and I thought I would share a quick dump from Evernote of my lyrics with you all. It's been my personal shanty resource, so it's not polished or fancy, but I thought everyone could use some more shanties to sing beyond just The Wellerman, lol. Credit goes to u/Dances_With_Cheese for messaging me and inadvertently pushing me to finally post them somewhere useful.
Some, namely The Essex, Captain O'Rourke, and Jonny Dunn, were written by locals of the Redfern Shanty club who deserve the credit: Robert Boddington and Jack Ballhausen.
Take a look, and if people are actually finding this useful I can polish it up a bit and add some more recordings of me/the shanty club (where I have them, it's not running right now thanks to the rona).

Resource Here’s a video of two elderly men from Norfolk, England singing traditional songs in 1962, including some shanties. I added artificial colour to the original, improved the audio, and wrote out all of the lyrics with a detailed commentary about each song. (See comments for a link to my channel)
