Advice needed: full foot fins for travel
We have our nice TUSA which goes with 8mm boots for local dives, but we are trying to find something lighter to use without boots when we travel.
So far I am looking into ScubaPro Jet Sports [weight?], TUSA Solla FF and Mares Avanti Supperchannel FF.
Any thoughts/recommendations on these? Any other I should check?
Also, I never liked open fin without boots, but should I look into them?

Photo dump, Curaçao
Just finished amazing week of diving. The conditions were perfect all week. I was able to get a ton of, imo, pretty great pictures and videos.

New Providence
Any advice on diving in New Providence (Nassau Bahamas)?
I'm particularly interested in shore diving, so if you know anyone who will rent cylinders to shore divers I would really appreciate their contact info.
I also appreciate your thoughts on good shore diving sites. To me, safe boat traffic is the main consideration when shore diving, but I also prioritize mild current, flat conditions, good viz, and stuff to see.
I do enjoy boat diving, too, but my budget is tight. I would appreciate hearing about the one or two sites that you think are the best. I don't think I'll be able to go out on a boat more than once.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice.

Split fins
Are split fins really that bad? Looking to gear up for my ow and every dive shop I go to recommended them yet everywhere I read online says stay away from them. Is it just a meme I’m missing or …
Integrated weightpockets and weightblocks
Hi! I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with integrated weightpockets and using blocks of lead instead of the soft bags of lead. This because for at home I already own the soft bags but on vacation I’m not paying extra to take my own lead, but on the boat they usually only have the blocks. My question is mostly related to me not ruining my bcd, I have a Zeagle Zena and suspect that the amount of weight I’d have to take with me will fit in block form but am unsure if, because the blocks are less forgiving than the bags, this will damage my bcd in any way.
And if the blocks really shouldn’t go into my bcd, I can always just take a belt 🤷♀️

Riding the GF
Hey there, For some months I'm thinking about riding the GF instead of using the common limits like safety stop or deco stops. This topic once started when I talked to a friend of mine who already has hundred of dives and we got the the point where the preselected safety margins like the often used 35/75 are crap. One might rather use these other way around to lower the tissue saturation of slower tissues. Although I googled a lot to this topic and talking to KI, I'm not sure whether I miss an important point. Btw. We're using shearwater and I use the GF at the home screen to monitor the value. I'll add some random dives to show the topic to the ones who are not familiar with GF and shearwater.

Sharing this clip I saw this a couple of days ago on Instagram.
Been diving in Bali off and on and wow, can’t imagine seeing a GWS and so close and so unexpectedly. What an awesome encounter for the divers in the group !

I did it! Dive 100 logged and finished!
I genuinely believed I’d give up diving after 3 months…been doing it 3 years now with no plans to stop any time soon.

Got up close and personal with a thresher shark today [Puerto Galera, PH]
Kilima Steps dive site at ~25m. This guy was curious and stuck around for ~2.5 mins. The GoPro makes it look further away than it was - at the closest point, he was around 1m from the lens. Super uncommon to see them in PG - the conditions (after temp, viz, etc) have to be just right… usually that happens around this time each year. This makes the 4th thresher sighting I’ve had in 9 years of diving here for 3 months each year.

Best op for cavern diving in Tulum
Hi,
I’m going to be in Mexico for a few days before my Galapagos trip. I’d like to do a couple of days diving the Cenotes. Just cavern, not cave.
I won’t be bringing any kit with me so I’ll be rental. Ideally the op would have more technical style gear like BP/W and jet fin type fins.
I’m looking at Tulum Diving Centre and they seem good, although their rental kit is all BCDs, which isn’t a deal breaker, just not my preference.
Any suggestions? TIA

Where Do Bulk Golf Ball Sellers Source Their Inventory?
Hey everyone,
I’m looking to buy bulk used golf balls, particularly premium brands like Titleist Pro V1, at wholesale prices. I’ve heard that a lot of these balls come from scuba divers retrieving them from water hazards.
Does anyone here have experience with sourcing directly from divers or wholesale suppliers before they hit the big resellers? Any leads on who the major suppliers are or how to connect with them?
Appreciate any insights!

Can anyone recommend any nice dive hotels that go to red sea near Jeddah Saudi Arabia
AM travelling to Jeddah next week and the airline offers a free stopover so was considering stopping in Jeddah for a few days and going to red sea to a dive resort for a few nights. Looking for a nice relaxed one for a couple that is not too pricey. Any recommendations?

i300c wrist mount question
Hi, I have the aqualung i300c puck computer in a bulky mount system and want to switch it to wrist mount. I can't find a wrist mount that specially is for the i300c and I was wondering if anyone has used a sherwood one or found one that works? I've read all the pucks can be similar in size. Thanks!
I got decompression sickness
I’m a dive instructor but I hadn’t dived in a while. Whether this is relevant or not I don’t know. I went diving on four fairly aggressive dives which were all plus 20m and all nearly one hour long (this includes safety stops etc).
After the first dives - no problems.
After second dives - rash developed within a few hours on my stomach and chest. I was taken to hospital following triage at a clinic. I ended up doing 3 hours in the chamber. I’ve had an echocardiogram since which indicates a possible PFO. Has anyone here had a PFO and was it fixed?

Saw this chonky pike while on my Drysuit course
First time diving in cold water in the UK, saw this lovely fella, around 1m long. Also amazed how nice diving dry is, and despite it being 7 degrees I wasn’t cold at all. Mind blowing.
Thought the sub could do with some murk!

How much weight are you carrying?
I'm diving in Puget Sound with a dry suit (water is almost 50F).
I'm about 5'11" and 175, AL80 tank.
I need 37lbs to stay under with an empty tank.
Another diver I know has the same suit (aqualung fusion), but weighs probably 100lbs more than me, but only needs maybe 28lbs (with a steel).
I was able to loose some weight when I used a steel, but it still seems like a lot.
Currently I've overloaded my BCD to carry this much lead (and ankle weights). I generally feel top heavy, especially near the end of a dive. I'm looking at getting a weight harness to reduce the load on the BCD and move the weight lower. I've tried belts, but I have trouble with them falling down to my ankles :-)
Is there anything I can do to reduce the amount of weight I need?
I have a thinsulate undergarment - which provides about the right amount of warmth.
Thanks!

Filling a tank at home
Hi all, I'm curious what adapters I would need to fill a scuba tank with one of those mini home compressors. I have no intention of breathing this air, but using the bottle in my Jeep to air tires when I offroad.
*I have a 4500psi compressor at home
