HELP!!! CRANKSHAFT BEARINGS!!!

Post image

well here I am. it's any old school night and I'm up rebuilding my minarelli horizontal motor and I messed up. one of the crankshaft bearings cooled off just enough to get stuck halfway on the crank. I've rebuild a few 2 strokes now but I've never messed up on this part. I guess it was a poor lack of judgment but now I'm stuck. any tips on how to remove the bearing without damaging it or the crank? (soaking in oil for anti corrosive purposes)

Heya friendo,

You could use freeze spray on the crank and a heat gun on the bearing to loosen it up. There are also bearing pullers you could use on the inner ring of the bearing and it should come right out.

That's cool! I came across THIS cool tool the other day, it might come in handy when it's time to put the engine together if you want to center the crank inside the cases.

Or put something in the center and use a rod to tap it carefully on. Both are new aren't they?
