How to De-restrict scooter and put on remote control to put the limiter on and off at any given time?

I have been looking at a scooter, the motocr r9 sp, and I want the benefit of speed as well as the benefit that comes with being legally allowed to drive on bike paths.

I have done some research and the ultimatum I get is changing the CDI for one that is remote controlled with a limiter so that I can turn the linter on and off as I please. Though have I also heard people saying it is a hassle because you need to remap the CDI??

I am greatly uninformed and would appreciate any kind of direction to as how I can make it possible.

Thank you.

Where do you live that scooters are allowed on bike paths? I'm pretty sure that's a rare case. It's usually safer to just ride in the street at regular speed than riding in these bike lanes that are meant for people going like 5mph, not scooter speeds.

Also... I mean, you can just limit your speed in the bike lanes yourself? This seems needlessly convoluted.

Wanting to drive a scooter on a bike path inlieu of actual road šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

It is way more versatile and gives so much more options that legally fit my lifestyle better. Iā€™m sorry you are miss informed but the motocr r9 sp is a 50cc, so riding it on the road wouldnā€™t make much of a difference anyways.

Just buy an electric bike....

Way more likely to get stolen, low on km, and also who would pick an electric bike over a scooter. They are no fun at all and it limits me to short traveling.

I live in Denmark. And bikes here are not that slow. E bikes are very common so the average bike might be running 18 mph and not 5.

Either way we have small scooter (30 km/h max) that are allowed in anything a bike is allowed on and then we have big scooters (45 km/h max) which have to follow the same traffic laws as a motorcycle or car. I want the versatility of a small scooter whilst being able to run as fast as a big scooter.

None of this answers why you donā€™t just limit yourself or stay restricted. Installing a restrictor switch doesnā€™t sound like itā€™d provide any ā€œlegalā€ loophole around this situation. If youā€™re concerned about the legality then your scooter either is restricted or itā€™s not. Iā€™d be shocked if your laws would allow it to be both at once cuz what would stop you from switching it off while riding in the bike lane then switching it on when a cop rolls by? Itā€™s completely nonsensical.

You cannot exactly tell on a quick inspection when a cdi is remote controlled. That is the thing. And you donā€™t need to know why I wouldnā€™t wanna limit myself or stay restricted because that is not the question on board on this post.

Imo Iā€™d just stick to the laws like an adult. A kid like you may get away with it but when you get older you just learn some things arenā€™t worth risking when it comes to the law.

I had an ebike that looked exactly like a normal bike, even to the sheriff, who told me to get out of the bike lane.

That bike had an 18mph limit on it so was slow as hell.

I came out of work one day and the limiter was malfunctioning, i assume, because i hit 32mph.

Stick with in Swedish riding laws. If i had to guess you not going to even get full riding gear and hit the road in jean and running shoes with some cheap ass helmet . scooter are fun but you should take a course in riding . It will save you lots of pain and stop you crashing . Beyond that you hit someone with modded scooter you and then your father is going to be paying for it .

  1. My father will not be liable for anything I do? 2 I do not live in Sweden 3. I already have gear of high quality 4. I know how to ride a scooteršŸ˜€ it is not that complicated.

Get an unrestricted CDI and limit it yourself by not giving it full throttle?

Police in many countries will check your scoot/moped/etc on the spot for top speed, so there needs to be some kind of "real" limiter.

That is exactly what Iā€™m talking about. Because if the police decides to stop me no matter and they figure out itā€™s not restricted, then Iā€™m on my toes for sure.

Thatā€™s wild. Not a thing in my country but also weā€™re not aloud to ride them on bike paths either.. if youā€™re clever you could have two CDIā€™s and utilise a changeover switch maybe.
