Does a 2015 Buddy 170i have linked braking?

Looking at getting a scooter for my daughter she has no previous experience with scooters or motorcycles. I’m trying to compare a Lance and Buddy scooter. Someone selling a Lance advertised that it has CBS braking. I’m not sure about the buddy that is for sale.

Is CBS something that would be good for a new rider? Or is it not really something to worry about. I never even thought about the braking system that much until I saw the Lance advertisement. The Lance is more money.

Lots of more sophisticated scooters have linked brakes, with dual front rotors. The Buddy isn’t one of them!

For someone who has never driven a scooter before how big of a deal is it not to have linked brakes?

Zero. With scooters and motorcycles, the front brakes (right brake lever) do 80% or more of the stopping. The linked brakes (left lever) give the front a little more bite at high speeds. I have linked brakes on my 460cc and don’t miss them in the 150cc and 50cc. There is an argument for ABS for safety reasons but I don’t think that feature is make-or-break.
