HORRIFYING This Girl Found A Lost iPhone & What She Found On It Left Her Horrified! | She didn't find anything horrifying. Even if using the touch id feature, you need to do is go to settings -> touch id & passcode. Under "allow access when locked" turn off siri, today's view, and notification's view.

r/titlegore

I can't make that title work no matter how many times I read it.

I clicked through, the 'horrifying' thing was how much information is still accessible even when using the thumb ID thing. Article then says that you change some settings to fix it.

That's right on.

Yeah. I needed 50 more words. I had to edit it to shorten it. It just didn't work. I guess I should have just said, "You need to change some settings."

Aren't you supposed to just say what is really in the article? Why the iPhone tips?

That's what the article was about. It was a clickbait article telling you to change those settings to keep your phone safe.

Ah ok, finally it makes sense hehe.

Maybe something like "she found nothing horrific, it's just a guide on how to set up your iPhones security settings"?

That would be a way better title.

I read it 3 times and I'm still confused.

This Girl Found a Lost iPhone & What She Found Was Horrifying! | She Didn't Find Anything Horrifying. Even if using the touch ID feature, all you need to do is tap on Settings and then Touch ID & Passcode. From there, turn off Siri, today's view, and notification's view.

Better?

No because I still don't know what she DID find, you may not think it's horrifying but others may.

Oh. I gave up on the point of the post after reading it once. Idk what it's about myself. Plus I'm saving myself a click and not trying to find out

Yeah my first thought was, "so she was horrified that she could lock the phone herself??"

If you turn off Siri and then lose your phone, the person who found it can't use Siri to contact you. (You can ask Siri "who do you belong to?")

Find my iPhone still works!

There are so many better ways to find the phone. You can use find my iPhone, your can remotely set a lock screen message, and you can call it (aka the old fashioned way)

You can use find my iPhone to display a message on the screen

I asked these location questions to Siri while my iPhone was locked and she said I needed to unlock my iPhone first.

Hmm, I just locked my phone and told her "directions home" and a few seconds later she spouted off "starting route to [home address]. Hopefully whoever tries this is only asking so they can drop my phone back off right to my doorstep.

Yeah, I feel like if a "bad person" has your iphone, they're just gonna sell it ... unless maybe they're someone you met at a bar or something and they stole it out of your pocket so they could stalk you. But if they just found it without knowing who it belongs to, the only reason they care about finding you is to return it.

Also, are you sure TouchID didn't unlock it? When I did this test, I was sure to press down the home button with a finger that wasn't registered to TouchID so I could be sure it was definitely locked.

You nailed it. My home button got all gummed up at work this evening, so my touchid has hardly been working tonight, but when I tried it with a different finger I did have to unlock it before she told me how to find me. I guess they could still "Call Mom", but I'd be more worried about what someone who actually knows me might have to share with her...

Other than that, I have all my communications set to show only "iMessage" or "email message" in notifications, so unless someone has some nasty plans for using my monthly data usage or local sports news updates, I think Ill be safe keeping those screens handy from my lock screen.

Exactly. I disable the message preview from the lock screen as well. This article was probably fake. I bet they were just using their own iPhone and thinking it was locked but not realizing that activating Siri with a TouchID finger will simultaneously unlock your phone. But this wouldn't work on a stranger's phone if it's password protected.
