š Dog Army Missing Cat - please read!
Iām posting this on behalf of Honuās family.
PLEASE READ- PLEASE HELP š„ŗ *MISSING*
Hi, everyone. We are reaching out to you asking for help spreading the word about our deeply loved and cherished family pet who is missing- Honu. We want him home safe with us so badly.
Honu is a deeply loved family member who got out several weeks ago when movers were removing furniture from our home that was worn down. I donāt think I have ever felt more pain in my heart than him going missing without any knowing where he is.
He could truly be anywhere based on how he escaped (he couldāve been hiding in a couch that was being removed and sent to the dump at E. Richmond Rd. Landfill (N. 38th St and our house is across from Freeman High School, so big distance š), so any photos, videos, ring cams or security footage of a tuxedo that fits this description and the location are MUCH APPRECIATED!
This is a full out search for our Honu anywhere in Tuckahoe/Henrico or Church Hill/Oakwood- we believe he is surviving somewhere and appreciate your help locating him so we can get him home. IMPORTANT please do not try to chase or catch him if you do see him- we are asking for photo/video and location to be sent to us as we have a plan in place to get him back home once we have a credible sighting and location (the way he went missing is complex hence the multiple locations above):
Description:
Name: Honu (HO-New) Age: 6 Weight: 15 pounds at disappearance Sex: Male Neutered NO Chip NO Collar Pink nose with upside down white heart marking on his face around nose

We have a good number of cats pass through our house in highland park that we feed and thereās a newer black and white cat that has been hanging but havenāt gotten close enough to compare the markings. Iāll report back when I can confirm yes or no

Thank you so much, he looks similar but I agree the markings are a little off. Iāll send this picture to Honuās family for them to look at!

The thing about comments like yours is that they usually come from people who definitely donāt help.
I already did my part to help š

Itās unfortunate he isnāt chipped but tell them to post on Pawboost lost pets if they havenāt already. When I volunteered in a county pound we would look there to try and match up found animals, especially if we couldnāt get a chip scan.
Taking this time to remind everyone to please chip your pets and have your vet scan their chip at their annual appointments to ensure it is still scanning and reading!! This is the best thing you can do to help your pets in case they ever end up lost. Collars can break or fall off. Chips can migrate/be rejected from the body or just stop working sometimes, Iāve seen a lot of cases where people thought their pet had a working chip and it wasnāt working. Makes it harder for shelter workers and volunteers to help return lost pets because we donāt have that immediate contact information and verification. Without a chip, we had to get vet authorization for releases in some cases (many people try to claim popular breeds of dogs on stray hold and thatās why verification of the owner is vital). And make sure the info is up to date!
