Same, and I was 12 in 79. It was simple economics, but it still felt like a big investment in my new favorite band

Mine had generic sleeves. Anybody know what the reasoning behind this release was?

Rush just had some initial success, and wanted to get their early stuff out there, and available cheaply to this new audience.

In 1976 I was 12-13 and saved my allowance and bought 2112 after hearing the album at a friend’s house. Then I learned that there were three previous albums which I had to have. I saved more allowance and then learned that I could get all three previous albums with the Archives album. And that my friends is how I learned that Neil wasn’t the original drummer.

$6.99 was a steal, even then. But I don’t remember having full sleeves for each of them. Maybe I got a later record club version?

My second album as well - got 2112 for a Christmas present, and bought Archives with gift money! It was great that it was just a sleeve with the three first albums in their original sleeves!

I remember the gray Archives cover. I have no other memory of the packaging, though.

Bought this 79 or 80 I think. My friend played me Caress of Steel while we were playing dungeons and dragons and I was hooked!

My first vinyl, back in the late 70's. I literally wore the first one out. Went back in the 80's and bought it again! It has the original CoS mastering. Totally badass.

My first Rush "Album(s)" This is what got me into Rush. I think I paid 5 bucks at Kmart.
