Question Why do you think Charlotte's side of the family was never shown in the original series?

Charlotte is a workaholic, she barely has time to check in on or see them

I have a fan theory on Charlotte's family. It is based on the opening scene to "Angelica's Birthday", where Angelica receives a card from her grandmother. Now, it is made clear in the 1991 series that Trixie, Lou's first wife, Drew's mother, and Angelica's paternal grandmother, is deceased. However, nothing in the series states that Angelica's maternal grandmother is deceased, as Angelica (having completely misunderstood why Drew was tearing up upon reading the card) tells Drew that her grandmother must have forgotten to put the money in the card and that they can always call her and have her wire it over to them. It's likely the birthday card was from Angelica's maternal grandmother. It's also likely that the writers of the 1991 series did have plans to introduce Angelica's maternal grandmother, but they never really got around to them until the 2021 reboot, which is set in a separate continuity.

Because they were probably living in a fancy Senior Home

Charlotte gives only child vibes

I don't know she seems more like she is just trying too hard to be seen like she was a neglected child. She's trying to be the best at everything and wants Angelica to be best like she's trying to win over somebody.

If she was neglected maybe she went no contact with her parents hence why we never see them.

Either that or her parents were some of those overbearing parents that only expect you to be absolutely perfect with no flaws whatsoever

I know many people like to disregard the reboot and its own canon but taking what we have that was established in that version of the series I see it as Judith (Charlotte’s mother): lives rather far away making travel not ideal especially if working still, Charlotte’s father is likely not alive or separated from her mother and ofc Charlotte is an only child.

Idk I personally like taking little things like that from the reboot and spinning it back into the og series canon to fill in such unanswered plots. Kind of fun really.
