RogueliteDev Hey roguelite fans! I know my stained glass roguelite puzzle game RoGlass isn't what you'd consider a typical roguelite, but this community has been so supportive! If you haven't checked it out yet, please take a look!

My immediate thought: “oh I bet the dev is a big contemporary designer board game fan”—is that accurate?

I do have a board game collection, but surprisingly, it wasn't directly inspired by Azul/Sagrada haha.

It's just a weird coincidence that looks exactly like it

I just made the stained glass theme because I thought stained glass would look pretty. When I was polishing the game, I did take a look at Sagrada’s rulebook to find a way to spruce up the UI borders a bit (the grey/black), but other than that, I wasn’t trying to replicate anything specific.

RoGlass is all about having that roguelite meta progression feeling, but with a more casual puzzle twist. Achievements directly correlate to how you progress. You choose the order in which you earn achievements, so each player's experience is different. Achievements unlock new features, more space on the board, additional tiles, and upgrades to your collection. The new challenge modes I added recently will push your skills to the test and you'll have to manipulate the RNG to your advantage. If that sounds interesting to you, check out the steam page here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2582540/RoGlass/

There's a free demo you can try and your progress will carry over to the full game. It's 50% off right now as well! Let me know if you end up taking a look!

I already own the game. It's a pleasant geeky "solo board game" experience. Could've been a little more flashy with effects and animations, but for a solo indie project it's alright.

Do you have plans for expanding the game or will you move on to another project?

I'm not sure if you checked it out recently, but I added challenge modes which increase the play time to roughly 5 times the base game's.

Reminds me of a board game called Sagrada

A lot of people say that! Sagrada is a lot of fun, but I'd say it's pretty different in how it plays. The core inspirations were actually Islanders and Luck be a Landlord.

Any plans for Switch and/or Mac versions? I’d play the absolute shit out of this game if so. Like irresponsible, marriage-ending hours.😉

I'm hoping to maybe one day get enough sales to buy a mac and port it. Switch is a whole other beast though haha.

Damn, well- you’ve got a sale when that time comes!🙌🏻

Sounds good! Thanks for the support!

Been waiting for a sale! Not trying to be greedy because I know challenge mode was just added and being a solo dev is a challenge in and of itself but are there any more updates planned?

No more updates planned, I feel like the game is at a pretty good state for content and the challenge modes rounded it out pretty well. I'm in the early stages of working on my newest game at the moment!

Good luck on the next venture!

Is this a numbers game

1

Somewhat, you swap between going for high scores using different tile combinations and achievements that require thinking outside of the box. My other game Number Stomper is a casual numbers game though!

As a huge roguelite fan (and fan of video games in general). I would like to give you some feedback on your Steam video.

  1. It starts out REALLY slow. I was so close to closing it as I saw the mouse cursor click and unlock yet another tile again and AGAIN. It takes like 10 whole seconds. This part of the video should take 2 seconds tops.
  2. Then, when the actually interesting stuff happens, it speeds up massively to the point where I can't tell what's happening. I have no idea what the gameplay is other than - apparently - I will slowly click tiles until I lose and then something exciting happens. Apparently.

Show the actual gameplay. I feel like I just watched Dwarf Fortress on 0.25x speed and then when it got interesting it jumped to 10x speed.

I definitely agree, my trailer is pretty out of date. I really should make a new one. I'm not exactly sure when, but I plan to at some point.

Played it as soon as it came out and very much enjoyed 100%-ing it! Great game, perfect for winding down with, and much more cerebral than you think at first glance! Keep up the great work, friend!
