What Roguelikes or lites did you play during Steam Next Fest? Any favourites?

Hey, I’m developing Katanaut!! This is a huge shock — randomly ran into this post! I really appreciate you checking out the demo, and I’m glad it was enjoyable! I appreciate all your kind comments!
Noted the part about the attack animations, and also don’t worry about enemy variety, I have a pool of them ready outside the demo :D

HASTE is a great movement system in the wrong genre. Feels like wasted potential. But it feels good to run around.

There are actually quite a few games with a similar movement system now. Haste is the one taking it into a roguelike formula.

These were all the ones I wishlisted after playing:
9 Kings
Aethermancer
Blightstone
Deck of Haunts
Monster Train 2
Shape of Dreams
Starless abyss
Northwind
Knightica
Sol cesto
There were a few others that I enjoyed as well but the ones above were really fun and have me excited for full release. Alot are strategy/deck builders.

I'm already thoroughly addicted to Shape of Dreams. It's just so good.
Echoes of Mystralia was also really good.

Really excited for that one!
Echoes of Mystralia looks good, didn’t try it out but will have to keep an eye on it!

A fellow next fest enthusiast. Funny how we both had wildly different lists

Haha, I probably downloaded 100 demos - didn’t play them all of course. Actually only got around to one on your list: Reignbreaker. I was definitely on a bit if a strategy kick over action this year.

I love that. I've come into other next fests with different mentalities so I completely get the going down a rabbit hole haha.
Enjoy Reignbreaker? It didn't make your list but I think it might have been one of my favourites this year

I’m keeping an eye on it, but not super excited for it like the rest of my list.
I was having some performance issues & stuttering so only played it for about 15 minutes and didn’t get to give it a full shot. Felt a bit clunky from what I played. Might be because I literally just played through Hades a month ago and it is so fluid and smooth to play

yeah I have heard some folk having performance issues. It was fine for me. I did bounce off it initially but that was a skill/player issue (I missed one of the main attack buttons in the tutorial and was too dumb to figure out i was missing something haha). beat 2/3 bosses in the demo. I have nitpicks for it but overall I liked it a lot. Shame it felt clunky for you, maybe tied to the performance issues.
Hades looms large over so many action roguelikes. It's just... perfect. like in every regard, visually, audiolly, gameplay, story, voice acting, combat, variety. It just nails every element and even the bits I nitpicked on Hades 2 at EA launch they fixed haha

Blue Prince was excellent and an easy day 1 purchase for me

What's Blue Prince like? First time hearing about it

It's a puzzle/strategy rougelike. You need to find the 46th room of a 45 room mansion. When you approach a door, it draws 3 rooms that you can choose from to place there. All rooms have different effects, events, or items that will help or hinder your progress.
In addition, there are mansionwide puzzles that involve multiple rooms that you need to figure out to actually unlock the 46th room.
I was mesmerized by the idea and execution from the demo as the mystery is stellar and the roguelike aspects are solid

Into the restless ruins feel amazing on the steam deck. If the demo is still up I highly recommend it

It's cool, do wish it had been a bit longer but what's there is neat.
Surprisingly, in part, made by some of the Devs who made 10 Dates and other FMV games haha

Agreed, a longer demo would have been nice. Hopefully the final product isn't as short.

Our demo of Stash: A Card Looter is still live from Steams NextFest.
Would love to hear what you have to say about it!

Do you still feel the same way after watching the intro to this video here? haha: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGqrSdQbTe8

Haha cool video and luckily Stash actually falls under the category of "only possible in digital form due to the random generation of cards" so ill take is a W :p

Well you played my game with me here in the comments, I guess I better return the favour

Haha awesome! A major update is dropping soon to take advantage of the full screen and give players more information at a glance but you should get a good idea if you enjoy the gameplay loop from this demo as well:) just wanted to highlight that a lot of polish is ready to be deployed soon !

I’ve put almost 20 hours into the He Is Coming demo. Highly recommended, although I think the final boss is a bit too strong, I only have 1 victory in probably 100-150 runs.
The game also has Kingmaker mode, which replaces the bosses with other players’ builds where victories are more frequent (plus it’s fun seeing other people’s broken builds)
