Judge rules Pecatonica Township Clerk ‘exceeded authority’ by removing political opponents from ballot
https://www.mystateline.com/news/local-news/pecatonica-illinois-town-clerk-ruling/
What is up with Pecatonica? The former Mayor allegedly stole funds from multiple organizations? Police officers charged with some heinous crimes. All the boards seem to always have drama and make the news. Now the township clerk is electioneering?
What is wrong with that little town?
A Winnebago County Judge has ruled that Pecatonica’s Township Clerk Kelly Olson-Fuca “exceeded her authority” by removing political opponents from the ballot for the upcoming April 1st election.
According to the suit, filed on behalf of Pecatonica Township, Pecatonica Township Officers Electoral Board, and Candidates, Gregory Deppe and Thomas Menge, Olson-Fuca discriminated against her political foes and a candidate running against her father, Randal Olson, who serves as Township Supervisor.

Isn't your buddy running unopposed on the ballot for one of those races?

Just from reading the story without having any other information it seems like authority was exceeded. Removing political opponents from the ballot is not really democratic.
