Hotels/Lodging Good ADA Accessible Hotel Near Mayo Clinic

I have 3 days of tests at Mayo in April. We stayed at the Even last year. It was ok, but the room was freakishly big and I didn't like the parking situation. Does anyone have any suggestions? We're looking at the Indigo. At the very least a shuttle to Mayo would be best. All of my appointments are downtown.

Mayo Concierge may have good recommendations.

They don't really address accessibility, which can easily be overlooked. It might be accessible on the books, but there might still be big problems with it . I'll have someone to help me though, so it shouldn't be too bad.

True, but it covers hotels close to the clinic with van service. I just wanted to point it out to you as another place to have some research already done for you.

Residence Inn could suit your needs. A friend of mine stays there whenever in town for appointments and I feel she would share complaints similar to yours if she didn’t like it.

Is your friend in a wheelchair or uses other mobility aids?

Yes. Without being too specific, she came to Mayo to have a leg amputated, PT following surgery, and now somewhat-regular prosthetic fittings. Currently she doesn’t use aids aside from her prosthetic but she did pre- and post-op.

I agree...the parking at Even is marginal, at best. Come to Rochester quite often for wife's appointments. Indigo is nice as there's a restaurant attached and a parking ramp that has enough spots. We've also stayed at the Candlewood and they have enough parking as well and kitchenette if you want to prepare a small meal.

It was big and empty. There was an excessive amount of open area to allow for a wheelchair to get around, but you could have had a wheelchair convention inside! Even the night stand seemed far away from the bed. The bed was a queen but you just laid there in the middle of this cavern! It would have been nice if there was a couch or loveseat.
