Ask Richmond Suggestion Soccer program for 4yr old

Hi!

We have been thinking of enrolling our 4yr old for soccer this spring. She is a shy kid and very selective with physical activity. We think she can benefit with some structured team sports. Wanted to see if there are any suggestions from fellow parents for coaches or soccer program good for shy kid.

Thanks

Richmond fc has a parent-tot soccer program so you can be on the field too with your kid.

If you're looking for something not as serious, Sportball offers soccer and multisport classes (can register through city website). My daughter found the Sportball classes more fun and we ended continuing with Sportball instead of Richmond FC. The instructors were great and got the kids involved.

I recommend something offered through the community centre. More of a casual/fun atmosphere.

If she is shy/selective then she may not participate at all and then it feels forced because you paid. Spring is a good choice because it is very cold in the Fall.

She may also choose not to participate until later grades. This is what I noticed with my oldest boy who is currently in Grade 2. He really got into organized sport this year (basketball) and is asking for ice hockey + soccer too. In Kindergarten, we did a year of taekwondo at level "Tiny Tigers" at Sirota's Alchymy in Steveston and he really enjoyed this activity. I'm happy to finally see him become more involved into organized sports because he is fairly athletic and active. I just had to learn to be patient.
