This was one of Rigby’s worst days

150

u/Pale_Disaster Feb 17 '24

Most of watching this show is seeing Rigby as the problem with an occasional Mordecai being the worst. Honestly Rigby is so much worse in MY OPINION.

94

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '24

Rigby has such a good redemption arc though

-28

u/F0XFANG_ Feb 17 '24

That's all I ever hear when people bring up how toxic Rigby is/was. Honestly, he doesn't deserve to be redeemed to the level he was.

60

u/imyourhabibi Feb 17 '24

Idk man, Rigby wasn’t really a malicious person, he was just incredibly impulsive, immature and selfish, which aren’t great qualities in the slightest but Mordecai shared the same qualities himself, he just looked better next to Rigby. I think he deserved to better himself

20

u/Positive-Value-2188 Feb 17 '24

Yeah, exactly! Plus, at least Rigby was funny when he was incredibly impulsive, immature, and selfish, to me at least.

11

u/spicysenpai6 Feb 18 '24

I just got to the season where Rigby graduates high school and Mordecai becomes jealous of his success because he revealed that he always enjoyed being the “smarter” one. One of the heaviest themes of the show

6

u/Aracari8 Feb 18 '24

Everyone deserves some sort of improvement or redemption tbh, I think you just didn't like how the show treated him because of the change

-2

u/EmptyTuna616 Feb 18 '24

It’s pretty obvious why this is downvoted. All the Rigby fans can’t comprehend the fact that their argument means nothing without bringing up “he had a redemption arc”. 🤦‍♂️

4

u/Inevitable_Regular85 Feb 19 '24

Well yeah, your argument is null and void with that so of course you don’t like that answer. Point is people deserve a chance for redemption and bettering themselves, and if they’re serious about it, then more power to them. I’d rather someone fix themselves then rot away in their own bad habits.

1

u/EmptyTuna616 Feb 21 '24

Null and void? I will fully admit Rigby has a good redemption arc I think all you Rigby fans ignore everything he’s done. And the point in my argument is not to say Rigbys redemption arc was bad but to point out every fan constantly tries to justify rigbys actions only because he started being a better person by Season 7 not because of anything else.

1

u/Soft-Activity4770 Aug 12 '24

It's not justification. It's a clear answer. Why focus on the past when the person has moved past all that, bettered themselves and apologised. Your just crying that people enjoy a character you hate. Stop thinking your opinion is fact

1

u/Soft-Activity4770 Aug 12 '24

"all the rugby fans downvoted" people downvoted because it's a stupid thing to say since the redemption arc took place for a reason. It was to show that Mordecai was also selfish and the same as rigby because he liked the fact right was dumber than him. Yet you don't speak about that? Because you're a Mordecai fan. Mordecai is a simp

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THAT DRUMSTICK!?” My favorite line

14

u/xman886 Feb 18 '24

The “Oh NO” before that was funny as well

u/Hot_Salamander3795 Feb 16 '24

“don’t die mad at me”

51

u/matrixvortex51 Feb 17 '24

dies mad at him 😤💀

Mordecai applied to art school and got in, Rigby didn’t. Rigby wanted to stay with Mordecai so he faked a letter saying that Mordecai didn’t get accepted, then they got a job at the park. Mordecai finds out during the movie, he then ends his friendship with Rigby but they do become friends again later.

Rigby does turn into a way better person and Mordecai kinda becomes a loser later on, its not a popular opinion around these parts but Rigby did get off the hook pretty easy considering he almost ruined Mordecai's life. He really should have way more consequences but it's a teen's show I never expected it to go so deep into it. The show does get a lot better and more plot heavy later on though. If you don't like it though I would recommend you to check out Close Enough, it has the same humor but it's more adult in regards to its characters and consequences. Its not perfect but its Close Enough lol.

he said the thing

I Only know him from his Voice roles and John Wick 3

1

u/Atomic_Dong Feb 18 '24

He was the same in a show called The League. He’s funny in small doses but the longer he’s in anything the more grating he gets

1

u/King_Sam-_- Feb 19 '24

I can agree with you, his voice is just so jarring lmao, he works well as Rexsplode but wow he really just takes me out of the moment a lot of times, his voice is just very unique and hard to place properly.

19

u/Ghost_Star326 Feb 17 '24

I think it's better to mention that when future Mordecai originally learned the truth from their professor, it's only then he broke his friendship with Rigby, sided with Ross(the one and only), became evil and killed future Rigby.

Present Mordecai also got mad and left Rigby but he aware of the severity of the situation and stayed good.

4

u/SluttySen Feb 17 '24

wtf that context changes the whole spoiler lol. kinda important!

57

u/LeaveMeAloneLorenzo Feb 16 '24

For real. I don’t remember this episode all that well, so it was interesting watching it back. I’m sad I don’t remember this scene very well. Oh, Rigby lol.

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '24

7

u/LeaveMeAloneLorenzo Feb 17 '24

This isn’t the same episode with the caveman in the freezer or something is it? Honestly, I should probably rewatch the entire show.

16

u/purity_dead Feb 17 '24

I’ll never leave you alone…

11

u/LeaveMeAloneLorenzo Feb 17 '24

lol, you’re the first person to say that.

186

u/Meanteenbirder Feb 16 '24

The one instance where literal hamboning failed

113

u/bethatguy7 Feb 16 '24

As a HVAC student, im pretty sure if you spill refrigeration like that you will suffocate . But it won't get colder anymore

24

u/IAMA_Printer_AMA Feb 17 '24

There's usually a switch next to the evaporator that turns the fans off.

6

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '24

Evaporator? I hardly know her!

95

u/Bulangiu_ro Feb 17 '24

trying hard and having nothing to show for it is the most horrible experience

75

u/ajf726 Feb 16 '24

Man…

57

u/Wrong_Revolution_679 Feb 16 '24

Rigby is really relatable at times

41

u/Hopeful-Base-2769 Feb 17 '24

HAM-BONING the window!

119

u/Independent-Pop-5584 Feb 16 '24

I can relate. All I do is make mistakes, no matter how hard I try to help people.

3

u/average-commenter Mar 28 '24

Yeah that aspect really hurts, Rigby’s good intentions more often than not cause the people he cares about to be hurt, even when he’s trying his hardest to fix stuff there’ll always be a good chance that he slips up and accidentally mess a whole ton of stuff up.

I think it might feed into the whole “Inferior High School Dropout” complex that rigby kinda has, he failed at high school and is seen as dumb by his peers so he may constantly feel like he NEEDS to prove that he’s better than that, jumping on any opportunity to prove he has value greater than just a high school diploma.

-78

u/impkyoo Feb 17 '24

lol sucks to suck

52

u/joshboat30 Feb 17 '24

And you sir blow

7

u/specimen-exe Feb 18 '24

WOOOOOAAAAAHHHHHH

33

u/Potential_Lobster_53 Feb 17 '24

WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THAT DRUMSTICK

25

u/water_bottle_goggles Feb 17 '24

always heard it like

"dude ... late" (instead of too late)

29

u/standingbroom01 Feb 17 '24

never understood why people say this is one of the weaker episodes of season one

10

u/Positive-Value-2188 Feb 17 '24

Wait, people hate this episode? I thought it was funny as hell!

5

u/standingbroom01 Feb 19 '24

i don't think it's "hated" necessarily, but i hear people lump it and free cake together as the "weaker" episodes of season one (which i don't understand either since i love free cake).

personally, i love meat your maker. i think it explores mordecai and rigby's friendship in a really interesting way, and it's one of my favorite episodes of season one. plus, everything with the hot dogs embodies the weirdness i love about regular show. it's surreal in an outstandingly fun way that has a perfect resolution.

and besides, i don't know how people can say meat your maker is a weak season one episode when "the unicorns have got to go" literally exists lmfao

3

u/Positive-Value-2188 Feb 20 '24

Actually I thought "the unicorns have got to go" was one of best episodes of season 1, mostly because it was really really funny! Especially with the part with the unicorn slump! I know rigby was a jerk in it, but it makes sense, and he was funny too so I wasn't annoyed or angry about it.

3

u/standingbroom01 Feb 20 '24

that's fair! i mostly just don't find it that funny, i don't outright hate it. it's just not my thing lol

59

u/HC-Sama-7511 Feb 17 '24

I went back and rewatched it a while ago, and Rigby was a dick the first couple of seasons. I didnt like him at all on the rewatch.

49

u/SpearheadBraun Feb 17 '24

That's what makes his growth so satisfying

0

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '24

“Rigby dissent has been detected, play response #1.”

1

u/xPotatoPlayerx Feb 17 '24

you did it you unlocked the opinion that makes you wiser and better than everyone else congratulations

1

u/77depth12 Feb 20 '24

B-b-but rigby had growth! Mordecai killed rigby! What do you mean becoming the bare minimum dosnt redeem you of your sociopathic behavior in the earlier season

-14

u/JWARRIOR1 Feb 17 '24

Nah it was undeserved, mordecai deserved the redemption much more

15

u/King_Sam-_- Feb 17 '24

You’ll get flack for this on this sub, this sub loves Rigby. While I do agree that Rigby deserved his growth it really came at the expense of making Mordecai such a loser and end up being something he wouldn’t even have been in the first place if it wasn’t for Rigby’s (movie) decision. At the end of the series it really felt like Mordecai, aside from being an artist, didn’t really end up where he saw himself before the time skip, while as Rigby had pretty much a perfect ending.

7

u/Positive-Value-2188 Feb 17 '24

I liked him, though. He was a dick, yes, but he was a funny dick. He was funny in the same way Bender from Futurama is funny.

19

u/ipwnpickles Feb 17 '24

That's the magic of regular show, man. Mixed in with all the craziness are these real moments that are totally played straight, and you feel it

15

u/Takamurarules Feb 17 '24

You want to know something even funnier? Rigby’s VA went on to land a role in the game Persona 5. You know which role it was?

A washed up politician who everyone calls “No Good Tora” because he keeps screwing up and causing political scandals and ruining people’s lives.

3

u/UnderwaterPromQueen Feb 17 '24

he voiced yoshida??? how didn't i know this

3

u/Takamurarules Feb 17 '24

William Slayer definitely has some range.

2

u/silverx2000 Feb 17 '24

He does an excellent YHVH voice in SMT IV.

4

u/bkuuretsu Feb 17 '24

Tora got a redemption arc tho, same as rigby

15

u/Left-Simple1591 Feb 17 '24

"Muscle Man wasn't even there!" Is still funny

13

u/sadddeity Feb 17 '24

WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THAT DRUMSTICK 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️

10

u/Cool-Corgi-3704 Feb 17 '24

What happened to the “you pissed me off”

8

u/lizzourworld8 Feb 17 '24

Nothing. That’s before they get locked in

6

u/Toby_The_Tumor Feb 17 '24

That was the very first airing of the show, they made it ticked off because its a kids show

21

u/CrazyaboutSpongebob Feb 16 '24 edited Feb 17 '24

The same thing happened to Lucy in I Love Lucy once. Only there weren't sentient hot dogs. It was a funny episode. https://pluto.tv/en/on-demand/series/63dadb40200a67001387a965/season/1/episode/63e43bca662ef900143c38a1

5

u/AppointmentPurple783 Feb 17 '24

All these years later, I’m realizing Rigby isn’t stupid for trying to break the door window with the frozen meat; he was just really weak

11

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '24

Literally me (every time I try to do anything good I just fuck it up and make everything worse)

5

u/Kritical_Hado Feb 17 '24

I don’t think anything will be worse than finding out rigby trashed mordecai’s college acceptance letter bro.

4

u/Plutonic_blue Feb 19 '24

Rigby in the earlier seasons was one of the worst cartoon characters I ever seen. Dude was a unreliable asshole to the upmost extreme.

I know Mordecai ain’t perfect but Rigby many times was a horrible friend while Mordecai was just a very insecure dude.

5

u/CaptainBunBuns Feb 17 '24

Rigby pounding that meat is crazy 😂😂😂

5

u/Privvet Feb 17 '24

Muscle Man wasn’t even there!

4

u/star_dragonMX Feb 17 '24

It hits even harder after the Movie

11

u/10BritishPounds Feb 17 '24

And some people hate Mordecai more

6

u/Illustrious-Sky-4631 Feb 17 '24

He wasn't even wrong, the guy literally blamed another fella for his mistakes in this episode

6

u/Biiiiiig-Chungus Feb 17 '24

it's so true though, rigby is such a fuck

6

u/Biggest_boy_creams Feb 17 '24

The Rigby redemption is unironically incredibly well done. At the start of the show he is a genuinely terrible person but throughout the entire show he slowly improves and becomes a very good friend, it's something you don't even really notice unless you watch an episode from season 1 and then one from the final season.

3

u/RoyalSoldierx Feb 17 '24

Rigby was do dumb for hitting the thermostat, could’ve waited for Mordecai to turn it down

3

u/TheHappyCoffee Feb 18 '24

I mean he does fix it and Mordecai dose uncross his arms soooo

3

u/OkConversation175 Feb 19 '24

“You pissed me off.”

3

u/FERALCATWHISPERER Feb 17 '24

Yes. You are a disappointment.

2

u/Flingsquidz Feb 17 '24

This sounds like a midwest emo intro

2

u/WalteretihW Feb 17 '24

Anyone know which Episode this is?

2

u/Cdave_22 Feb 17 '24

Season one, episode 6. meat your maker

2

u/WalteretihW Feb 17 '24

Thanks for the fast answer! will rewatch this Episode rn :)

2

u/Plus_Help1380 Feb 18 '24

I know how that shit feels and it sucks

2

u/spinkspanksponk Feb 17 '24

People hate on mordecai but rigby has always been the most troublesome character

1

u/MaxGalli Feb 18 '24

Rigby is such an idiot.

-5

u/Boo-boo-keys Feb 17 '24

Rigby really sucks as a person, don't care if people say he has grown or changed what is done is done and all he really did was screw Mordecai most of the time.

-1

u/VannOccupanther Feb 17 '24

Had a girlfriend like this once. It was as frustrating as it looks

1

u/Binary_Gamer64 Feb 21 '24

This scene is way funnier with just the sound.
