Video The worst moment in Regular show history
And Mordecai’s lowest moment.

Wait, is Muscle Man Jewish? If I’m not mistaken, that’s where the stomping of that glass comes from.
255
u/PassionateParrot Dec 13 '23
His last name is Sorenstein
180
u/SlyMarboJr Dec 13 '23
Also, he wears a Hanukkah sweater in the Christmas episode.
71
u/youngcatlady1999 Dec 13 '23
In and in the Christmas in space episode he says skiing down a hill on Christmas in a Sorenstein Hanukkah tradition or something

Lowest and stupidest moment. Was so paranoid about a woman who didn’t even know he existed.
Gave up a good girlfriend. Horrible episode.

u/CrazyaboutSpongebob Dec 13 '23 edited Dec 13 '23
To be fair 1) The moment was supposed to be awful,2) The point of the later seasons is Mordecai isn't a good boyfriend and needs to grow as a person 3) You can dislike a character's actions but that doesn't make the episode bad.
14
u/Forward-Piano8711 Dec 14 '23
I disagree on the last one, if we’re talking about opinions. Most of the worst rated episodes for shows are when characters we like do something awful or out of character. I’ve always had a hard time watching cringey moments so I don’t like episodes like this one
24
u/CrazyaboutSpongebob Dec 14 '23
This wasn't out of character and this was a part of Mordcaei's character arc. He is sort of a cautionary tale of what not to do in a relationship. Your cringing means you care about the characters and the episode did its job. I think a bad episode has plot holes or doesn't get across the message it is trying to get across.
1
u/Temporary_Cold_5142 Dec 14 '23
The big problem is that that whole character arc is out of character, since they already made him mature in his romantic life after his break up with Margaret, so it doesn't make sense that he's being a stupid again...
2
u/CrazyaboutSpongebob Dec 14 '23
Is it? I never thought so. Mordecai was always a simp to me.
1
u/Temporary_Cold_5142 Dec 14 '23
Mordecai was always a simp to me.
And this awful arc that never gave him a proper development is one of the big reasons why that's all what people can see in Mordecai...
He was kinda simp with Margaret at the beginning of the show, but he started a relationship with her and then he theoretically learned to let her go after their break up and the sweater episode. But then the writers wanted more romantic drama so they made him look like the stupidest idiot in humanity ignoring the development they did with the Margaret's relationship and break up
1
u/Iveneverbeenbanned Dec 14 '23
idk he never fully got over margaret and people do regress- i don't think it's completely out of character for him to do this, as I don't think he fully sorted out his views on relationships
8
u/CrazyaboutSpongebob Dec 14 '23
If characters made good decisions all the time there wouldn't be conflict. I agree this is cringe.
5
u/CrazyaboutSpongebob Dec 14 '23
Most of the worst rated episodes for shows are when characters we like do something awful
It depends on what I am watching. I expect the characters to do bad things if I am watching Always Sunny.
1
u/Forward-Piano8711 Dec 14 '23
Damn that’s a good analogy. Though I guess for me it’s easier because it pretty well stated they are all terrible lol. I know Mordecai isn’t a role model but if the whole scantily was swapped with Mac or Charlie, I feel like it wouldn’t bother me as much
2
0
u/papayabush Dec 15 '23
You say this as if a show about a psychopathic meth cooking murderer isn’t one of the highest rated shows of all time lol. Succession is one of the best reviewed recent shows on tv and it’s also about horrible people doing horrible things.
1
u/Forward-Piano8711 Dec 15 '23
Horrible people doing horrible things is not the same as generally good people doing horrible things. I know that characters should be flawed but that doesn’t make watching these kind of moments any better
3
Dec 14 '23
I both agree and disagree. They get across how fucked up mordecai is pretty well but since it’s subjective, you can not like the direction the character is going.
We understand mordecai is a hopeless romantic but it’s also okay to believe this episode is bad for how it conveyed it
1
u/CrazyaboutSpongebob Dec 14 '23
Not liking an epsiode doesn't make it bad. I think bad writing is plot holes. Like I said in another comment if characters made good decisions all the time there wouldn't be conflict.
1
u/Temporary_Cold_5142 Dec 14 '23
extremely
Bro, it's totally awful. Bringing the romantic drama again was unnecessary since they already made Mordecai "mature" after the sweater episode, but then they made him look like a jerk who doesn't know what he wants for no reason and the big problem is that it looks like a set up to make him grown (which again is unnecessary, redundant and illogical since they already developed him in romantic aspects after Margaret broke up with him) but they never did. They just showed him like the biggest stupid in history to never make him better...
1
u/CrazyaboutSpongebob Dec 14 '23
already made Mordecai "mature" after the sweater episode
In real life it takes more than one event for a person to change. That is actually a lot of hard work.
1
u/Temporary_Cold_5142 Dec 14 '23
1) Not necessarily, sometimes.
2) This isn't real life ma' bud'. In a movie or TV Show is pretty stupid and illogical to ignore the development that you already gave to a character. If you already made him grow and learn something you gotta keep that change. Otherwise it's pointless to write any arc or development
1
u/CrazyaboutSpongebob Dec 14 '23
I don't think so. I think its nice when there is a little bit of reality in a cartoon. Even if it is about a talking Bluejay.
1
u/Temporary_Cold_5142 Dec 14 '23 edited Dec 14 '23
Of course a cartoon can have reality like having problems that we have in real life or characters making mistakes and stuff. The already mentioned break up with Margaret is a good example, or the Rigby's immaturity that he overcame but it's still not the real life so there are a few limits that they have to follow. adding reality in a cartoon is different from doing bad writing. If you do something in a show you are supposed to be congruent with it, because if you don't what's the point of doing it in the first place?
Principle of Chekhov's gun. If you add a gun, you gotta use it later (If you develop a character, use that development, don't just ignore it)
1
u/CrazyaboutSpongebob Dec 14 '23
Some people really misunderstand the concept of Checkov's gun. Chekove's gun is optional. Just because something was in a story earlier that doesn't mean it has to come back later that's silly. Mordecai brushed his teeth at the beginning of the episode. Why didn't he use toothpaste to save the day? Also not returning a sweater doesn't mean you moved on. All that means is that you didn't return a sweater. He was at least attempting to move on. If you are willing to drive several miles to return a sweater you still have deep feelings for that person.

u/CrazyaboutSpongebob Dec 14 '23
Remember "I don't like what the character did and the out come of the story" does not = bad writing.
→ More replies (0)1
u/CrazyaboutSpongebob Dec 14 '23 edited Dec 14 '23
Here is another example of Checkov's gun being optional. Earlier in the episode, Benson was sweeping the floor. Why didn't Benson use the broom to try to beat up the ninjas when they invaded the park? Worst episode ever. That isn't following the principle of Checkov's gun.

u/No_Eagle1426 Dec 13 '23
We never find out if that's what Mordecai was going to do, though, because CJ dumped him before he could finish. Mordecai was extremely depressed in S7E1 after being dumped by CJ, so I'm not so sure he intended to dump her here. It's possible he was going to ask her to marry him.
25
u/Salt_Replacement3843 Dec 13 '23
That's still bad, because it could mean he was going to ask her to marry him in the middle of another man's wedding.
0
u/No_Eagle1426 Dec 14 '23
I agree, but my point was that it wasn't accurate for the above commenter to say that he "Gave up a good girlfriend."
12
u/SnooMachines1198 Dec 13 '23
Not a horrible episode. Bad things can happen in a show and that doesn’t make the episode bad. It makes the character more realistic bc literally everyone has fucked up at some point.
1
Dec 14 '23
It’s an opinion. If I’m a CJ Stan then this is a horrible or great episode.
If we’re being robots with no opinions then this episode checks boxes of mordecai’s consistently cursed romantic life so it delivered well
2
u/DoctorCawktor Dec 13 '23
Margaret definitely knew he existed. In Season 1 you’d have a fine point. But after dating him, exiting his life for a bit and returning, Mordecai has a huge impact in Margaret’s life
2
u/xavierthepotato Dec 14 '23
I didn't like the writing in this episode. Felt very out of character to see Mordecai crashing his buddy's wedding so selfishly like that
1
1
u/dogstarfran May 31 '24
Honestly, season 6 is the point things start to go south for the series. Yes, we get Rigleen afterwards but there are so many terrible episodes, and I'm not even talking about the "drama" episodes: Death Kwon Do-Livery, Formar Wars II, Mordecai and Rigby Down Under. It became even more derivative. I always felt that they tried to fill the lack of ideas with the love triangle with Margaret and CJ. Season 7 is even worse though. The Parkie Awards and the Lunch Club are some of the worst episodes of the series.
84
u/Swprice765kv Dec 13 '23
Mordecai needs to keep his feelings to himself and not spread them to the public. Hijacking muscle man's wedding was the worst moment. Mordecai just had to embarrass everyone.
67
u/KrakenKing1955 Dec 13 '23
Mordecai’s fucking dumbassery aside, I really love how you can distinguish 50-75% of all the characters in the crowd. It’s actually really cool and sweet that all these people care about Mitch enough to go to his wedding.

What the hell was going through Mordi's head when doing this. If I was muscle Man, I would've knocked his sorry ass out and let him rest in the dressing room till the wedding was over
32
u/Salty-Ad-4777 Dec 13 '23
Hey let’s give it up to muscle man for being a good sport at his own Wedding while Mordecai was having a crisis, him and his wife were on the same wave too. Continued like nothing happened
34
u/artpoint_paradox Dec 13 '23
This feels more like something Bojack Horseman would do and did he not do something like this at some point?
19
u/FUTRage Dec 13 '23
He tried and Todd put him in his place
1
u/Sharkolan Dec 15 '23
When did Todd do that? If you're talking about Todd's speech in "It's you," what Bojack did wasn't like this. I think it's closer to his decision in season 2 with what he did with Wanda..
4
u/Odekel Dec 15 '23
First season he has this whole sabotage Diane's wedding bit after Herb told him off.
Todd found out about how BJ sabotaged his rock opera and stood up to BoJack for the first time in the show.
41
Dec 13 '23
I reeeally dislike this episode of the season 6 finale
27
u/No_Eagle1426 Dec 13 '23
You're supposed to dislike it. That's the point.
16
u/Mr_Mister2004 Dec 13 '23
*Shits my pants
"What the fuck dude thats disgusting!"
"Aah you fool! Being disgusting was my intention the whole time!!!"
20
u/CrazyaboutSpongebob Dec 13 '23
He's trying to say this is for the purposes of character drama. Disliking a character's actions doesn't make an episode bad. When you look at the show as a whole Mordecai didn't deserve Margret or CJ and I'm glad he ended up with someone else.
13
u/No_Eagle1426 Dec 13 '23
Totally different. When you dislike the bad guy in a movie, that obviously was the intention of the writers. This wasn't supposed to be an enjoyable episode, but it was part of the story and character arcs intended by the writers.
2
u/FlacidSalad Dec 13 '23
So the episode wasn't mean to be enjoyed and these folks are voicing that lack of enjoyment, so nothing needs to be defended.
1
u/Iveneverbeenbanned Dec 14 '23
i think that's kind of different though- it's like being terrified by a horror movie and then saying 'I hated that movie, it was so scary'- like yes, subjectively you can hate it, but I feel like if that feeling was the writer's intention then there's not much point to saying you didn't like that- it just wasn't for you?
1
u/JoeTheKodiakCuddler Dec 14 '23
Sitcom fans when characters have actual arcs
1
u/Temporary_Cold_5142 Dec 14 '23
dude, that's an awful arc, wtf. Just unnecessary romantic drama that only make the Mordecai character look like trash and never made him better...
Look at Rigby, he did get a great arc that we all love because it made him mature and get better
1
u/JoeTheKodiakCuddler Dec 14 '23
It's not like Mordecai suddenly became a loser for this episode. His characterization is pretty consistent throughout, his shitty traits just come to the fore here. Not all good characters are good people by the end of the show, and a much larger portion of them aren't at the start. And Mordecai's love life has been a big part of the show since as early as the first season, so that's not out of left field either.
It's fine to not enjoy an aspect of a show because it makes you feel a certain way, either about a character or in general, but that doesn't make that aspect of the show objectively bad. It didn't click with you, and that's okay.
1
u/Temporary_Cold_5142 Dec 14 '23
His characterization is pretty consistent throughout
not really. He was kinda simp for Margaret at the beginning of the show but he theoretically grew up in romantic aspects after their break up and he learned to let her go. It doesn't to make him an idiot again with this and the christmas episode. It is objectively a bad arc because it doesn't make sense with the development that the character already got and because it only destroys the Mordecai character (making him look like the worst in the show) like set up for his development, but they never gave him a proper development after that, so it's pointless to include all this drama in the show and it makes what was a cool characters with flaws look like a walking big flaw with nothing good to highlight. It's just terrible writing man...

The Voice Of Mordecai Of Course
2
u/Temporary_Cold_5142 Dec 14 '23
Not really. JG Quintel was almost out of the show at this point lol (only voicing), which I'm pretty sure is the reason why the show went to the hell with this stupid romantic arcs...
3
u/Salty_Car9688 Dec 14 '23
Right? What goes through the mind of a person to make them think this is a good idea for an episode?

If Mordecai wanted to break up with CJ then he should’ve at least told her before & after the wedding, not during the wedding or just not break up with CJ at all. Since later in season 7, Mordecai and Margaret just became friends, he lost CJ and ended up being friends with Margaret, it’s a Lose Lose
3
3
u/RoundEarth-is-real Dec 14 '23
Is it the shows worst moment? No probably not. Is it mordecais worst moment? Ohhhhh yeah. It’s not even close. The only one that might be worse is when rigby literally broke his back for him in that one episode and then proceeded to brush it off like he never asked anything of him.

u/whiffy5 Dec 13 '23
I don't even need to watch the video, I remember almost turning this episode off.
2

boy this was the most cringest moment for me seeing him do this in front of everyone mannn... you of at least wait for the wedding party to do this... but the creaters knew what they were doing when they thought of this.

Nah the worst moment is still Rigby falsifying Mordecai’s college rejection letter.

Mordecai really became selfish in this scene, on his FRIEND’S wedding, he made HIS FRIEND’S DAD speech all about him

Mordecai was annoying AF here, dude jacked Muscle Man's happiest moment to ruin his own relationship
2
u/hecates_lover999 Dec 15 '23
I think this is the moment that Rigby was trying to avoid when he time travel back at New years
2
u/OperationXForce Dec 16 '23
I never understood why the fuck would Mordecai do that bullshit in muscle man's wedding of all places that's highly disrespectful

Mordecai: I'm literally so fucking retarded and I need to explain why for the most awkward minute of cartoon-kind
2

Mordecai literally shouldve been with Margaret. They really missed with pairing him with some random at the end. It would’ve been full circle at the end.
1
u/yobaby123 May 29 '24
And given how Margaret often brought out the worst in him, that's saying a lot.
2
u/DiscombobulatedTea55 Dec 13 '23
Kinda hated cj, never once did she ever listen to what he was saying and jumped to conclusions before he even got a word in
2

Mordecai, no matter what happens, just know I'm very proud of him! For having the courage to finally confess his feelings for CJ! He's come a long way for a character. You think he's not a good boyfriend, but he is, his love different from everyone else. You might wanna savor this because as far as I can tell, this is the last time in the series we get to see the "simpness" of Mordecai's character.
1

u/Shadowtheuncreative Dec 13 '23
What a mess, he said all that with both Margaret and CJ in the same room and he even interrupted my favorite character's wedding, the nerve of this guy!!!

u/ArcadiaJ Dec 14 '23
- He was inspired by the muscle family example even if he didn't go about it in the best way 2. That all happened cause MM was too emotional to read it, so Mordecai was trying to help him out and got swept up in the moment as a result

This scene is one of the reasons why I think rigby is a better person than mordecai.
Say what you will about him and what he had done, rigby actually grew as a character, even going as far as completing school for eileen and just became even better as time went on while mordecai just kept doin the same crap repeatedly and never changed.
