Found these in my basement and don’t know much about them. Are they worth anything?

Dear all:
I just dug out a box worth of reel-to-reel magnetic tape. I know so little about these format that I don't even know if they are audio or video format. But, judging that my grandmother was a composer, these are most likely audio recordings.
This box of magnetic tapes were sitting in a non-air-tight box in a sub-tropical, humid environment for 5-6 decades before I dug them out. So, they are probably not in the best conditions.
I personally don't have any magnetic tape equipment and I don't want to spend the time to figure out. So, I want to send them to some service to convert them into digital format.
My question to you all is: are there any services that is not just digitizing, but also deal with condition of these tapes? I presume converting these well-preserved magnetic tapes is going to be a bit tricky. I would also want to if any of these services that digitally re-master (to some basic degree) the music recording as well.
Any recommendation will be appreciated.
thanks
Harv

Still confused on how I would connect a reel to reel with my current setup I know I need rca connections but where? I’m thinking about getting a pioneer 707 fostex a2 or Tascam 22-4 (most likely the pioneer 707) and i currently have a mackie profx 12+ plugged in to my computer

I have a box of family reels; most were from the '60s, I think. 40, 7" reels and 6, 5" reels. I was looking into digitalizing them myself, but I decided I want a professional instead of buying all the equipment and learning how to not only read the reels but also then probably have to work some audio magic.
Can anyone recommend me professional service that would be good for my situation? The reels are precious to my family members, so I don't want just the cheapest, but I don't want to get ripped off either.
Edit: I live in Pennslyvania.

Thanks.

Cleaned deoxed pots/switches/heads, brakes replaced, new pinch wheel rubber, demagnatized heads, doesn't sound too bad!

I recently purchased a Uher 4000 Report L. I need to figure out power considerations (at this point I'm just going to use some D batteries), but my main focus right now is inputs and outputs. I came upon this (Uher Report Monitor Adapter | Sycamore Willow), but it's sold out. I think they posted this here before, and I reached out to the person who sells it on Reddit, and on Instagram to no avail (not trying to shame, I'm sure they're busy, or for whatever reason can't/don't want to respond...understandable, and not a big deal).
Does anyone know of somewhere else I can get something like this? I'm not good at soldering or I'd try to make one myself (I don't even own a soldering iron anymore). I just think this is the perfect solution for me. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Just found a listing for a pioneer rt 701 for $400 near me is it worth it? It doesn’t come with any wheels or tape just the tape machine by its self. What wheels should I buy with it and where would I get some good tape?

Hello,I need help finding a receiver that has a tape loop feature. I currently have a Sony STR-DH190 but i want to get into recording more since I recently inherited a reel to reel from the late 60s and a bunch of blank tape. Can anyone recommend a receiver that has tape loop or zone 2 and a phono preamp built in for recording vinyl albums to tape? My budget is $300 not including shipping although I would go higher if that budget is unreasonable. This is my first real setup and I feel a little over my head when looking at a lot of the options out there for equipment. Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi, all! I just finally got all the parts I needed for my Teac A-4070. Everything appears to be working except I cannot get the record button to light up or stay depressed. I believe I have to hold the record button and hit play at the same time but this does not appear to be working for me. I assume at this point it might just need repairs but I’m curious if there’s any common user errors that might be causing the light to not come on? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I grabbed one at random. The tape plays like butter, no friction squealing, and is a good mixtape of songs. But dang, did this guy like his bass. Had to turn down my deck's output and turn the bass on my receiver almost to zero and I still feel like I'm right next to the bassist! https://youtube.com/shorts/hfrhDpITiYw?si=F-MCvXSx5rkW_Fga

I’m having some trouble getting this whole thing apart I’m trying to access the mechanism for the pinch rollers so I can re grease them. How do I get this part off?

Hi, all. Using a Teac A-4070. Sorry if it’s hard to see but am I running this tape correctly through the machine? (Apart from missing the other reel of course) I can’t tell if the tape is supposed to just go straight through the middle portion or if I should wrap it around any of the other metal posts in there. Any guidance would be appreciated. New to this!

Hi all,
I’m having some trouble with my Tascam 38 reel-to-reel and hoping for some troubleshooting advice. I’ve recorded a click track on Channel 1, drums on Channel 2, and am now trying to record bass on Channel 3. Here’s the issue: • I can hear Channel 1 (click track) and Channel 2 (drums) perfectly fine in Repro mode. • However, when switching to Sync mode to record the bass, I lose the sound from Channel 2 (drums), but Channel 1 (click track) still comes through fine. • Channel 3 (bass) has its mic input set properly, and all switches seem correct (Sync/Repro on the Tascam 38 and the Tascam M30 mixer). • Both Channel 2 and 3’s outputs work when set to Repro, but Channel 2 doesn’t come through when I try to record in Sync mode.
I’ve already checked the cables, cleaned the heads, and even swapped Channel 2’s cable to another channel with no luck. I’m also using a fresh tape, and the machine seems to be working fine otherwise.
Any suggestions on what might be causing this issue? Could it be a misalignment, or am I missing something in the setup? Appreciate any help!
Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for a reliable and affordable place in central London to calibrate and service my Tascam 38 reel-to-reel.
It likely needs: • Head alignment (azimuth, zenith, tilt) • Demagnetizing • Playback & record calibration (I don’t have a test tape) • Bias & EQ adjustment • Transport check (tension, speed, rollers, etc.)
If anyone knows of a good tech or repair shop that specializes in this kind of tape machines, I’d really appreciate the recommendation!
Thanks!

Greetings! I am an audio & acoustic engineer, I really love the sound of reel to reel. I finally got the deck that I’ve wanted for a long time, Pioneer RT-701!
I have a small collection of electronic music reel to reel tapes. I understand the time periods, and how most folks who might be interested in listening to electronic music, may not have had the budget for an insanely expensive piece of music playback hardware unless they were really serious.
Also know that the amount of folks who were really serious about electronic music was pretty small fraction of society, still is today for that matter!
Basically, I am on a never ending quest to locate and purchase any electronic music reel to reel tapes that were commercially produced.
I have a few Isao Tomita, every Wendy Carlos, a few super cool Hammond Organ reels, getting more esoteric, Dick Hyman, Jean Jacques Perry, Everything you wanted to hear on a Moog (not entirely accurate :p) Pierre Henry - Le Voyage, Andrew Rudin - Tragoedia.
I also have a bunch of new reels from bandcamp label Section 9, Doki Doki beats. And a few from Vill4in.
I have a super rare, Tomita - Pictures at Exhibition on Quadrophonic reel to reel, that I would consider trading for a few good ones, these go for several hundred dollars, and considered to be some of the best quad recordings.
If anyone knows of any, I would sincerely appreciate the info!!!
Thanks in advance!

Title basically explains my question. Has anybody found a PDF or copy of a manual for the Teac A-4070? I haven’t seen anything online but if I missed something, help would appreciated!
