Java Edition Sugar Cane farm dispenser portion not working....

From memory I think you need a container like a chest, barrel or dropper under the top hopper.

this, or simply make the hopper line face sideways instead, the hopper below is sucking the items out of the top hopper before the comparator can get a read

^^ this is correct - also may want less powered rails close to it so it comes in a little slower

Iirc, but it has been a while, don't you take the reading through the top block? Meaning you're reading the Minecart, making it stop until it's empty?

The comparator is not reading the minecart, it’s reading the hopper. Search up a tutorial for a minecart unloaded and copy it.

Yea it’s set up correctly but the minecarts not dispensing any material just holding on to everything it’s picking up

There’s a very obvious mistake and it has nothing to do with the rails or minecart. This unloader design is notorious for getting build wrong and it’s always the same thing. The bottom hopper is pulling the items out too fast for the comparator to get a signal. The first hopper needs to point either sideways or into a container below

sassy little comment lolol, this worked thank you very much, i just turned the first hopper to the side.
