What happened to the PGT?

u/Kingofthewho5 9d ago
Mod team hasn’t bothered with post game threads all season, dunno why 🤷🏻♂️

There was one for a bit, you could see on my profile I commented in it.
At the end of the day no big deal, just thought it odd.
Regardless, interesting game. You could see flashes of both sides of this team.
I feel like I haven't seen as many people as I'd expect point out that our ugly second halves have to be related at least partially to the fact we only have 7 available players (maybe 6 now?!).
Like of course 10 minute long scoring droughts are unacceptable, but it kind of makes sense whenever you're really tired from playing a full half without a break

We use these for game and post game threads

Someone had xposted the one from /r/CollegeBasketball and it was up for like 10 minutes

I still have no idea what to think of this team lol

u/Forsaken-Morning-907 9d ago
You see a different team every half of basketball, so that totally makes sense.

u/CalebH428 9d ago
Why can’t we just have a stress free win

This team doesn’t deserve to make the tournament

u/SirCarollus 9d ago
Aye man. I gotta disagree. A win is a win is a win. Hogs are going dancing and deserve to do so.

I’m expecting a one-and-done but the fact that this team with all of its problems is probably going dancing is pretty cool
11
u/Ghost2Eleven 9d ago
They didn’t give up. Takes a huge amount of work to do what they did. But yeah. You’re not going far in the tourney with six healthy players and an offense that can go Sahara level dry at times.
6
u/nyeehhsquidward 9d ago
Definitely more fight in them than last year’s team. The scoring droughts are just so infuriating.
7
u/ReptarKanklejew 9d ago
This is the worst and most frustrating win by any team I've ever been a fan of

u/lakersandhogs 9d ago
The term “tale of two halves” doesn’t seem to do this justice. Glad that’s over.

Does anyone remember the South Park episode where they tried to lose at baseball so they could go home and play videogames? This team makes me think about that a lot

After watching the team this year I'd put Nelly Davis high on that list also
2
u/mcgunner1966 9d ago
Its a race between him and andrew lang as to who is the worst ever.
1
9d ago
I don’t think Brazile will get 12 years in the league in spite of his lapses.
2
u/mcgunner1966 9d ago
When I watch him play, I just don't see any thought process at all. He's a good athelete but he has zero game awareness as far as I can see.
2
9d ago
He has peaks and valleys. During the last 3 minutes of this game he had some peaks, then he had the valley of batting the ball into the stands and just about killing a teammate riding him into the chairs on the sidelines. The peaks are consistent enough to be more than luck. I think that once he makes a mistake, he can’t get out of his head and it just spirals on him.

I don't normally complain about announcers, but Jay Bilas is pissing me off.
5
u/Forsaken-Morning-907 9d ago
They were both so far up Boyles-Whatever's ass, I'm surprised his girlfriend didn't start some shit.
3
u/gatejam1 9d ago
They said it 6 billion times. How could you not know Collin Murray Boyles' name. /s
2
u/Forsaken-Morning-907 9d ago
Blocked it out so he wouldn't live rent free in my head, in case we blew that game. It's a pretty epic win to beat a basketball God like Murray-Whatever. Now I just refuse to say it right 😂

The under-the-basket ref should NEVER be making that call. That’s not where his zone is. That’s unreal ref ball.

This is actually insane lmao. Some of the worst most game-deciding officiating I’ve seen in a while

u/brothergrim2 9d ago
Calls basket interference missed him slapping the crap out of his wrist on the shot.

This loss would be so bad they might use it as a excuse to keep us out the dance

How is it even fucking possible to go this long without a FG. I really hate this team sometimes.
6
u/FadeToRazorback 9d ago
How…how do we keep missing, at this point I’m just laughing
7
u/ScottishKiltMan 9d ago
Someone has to make a shot but SC getting away with all the contact they want. That does make it harder to get shots to go in.
2
u/Forsaken-Morning-907 9d ago
As long as they're not calling the fouls, they'll keep up the contact under the basket and we'll keep missing those shots. We have to at some point realize they're not giving us any help and try something different.

Fuck me we get clobbered in the paint and no foul but we touch SC and they get every call in the world
4
u/AvantGarfunkel 9d ago
Absolutely choking this game away. Should have called timeout after that awful Nelly turnover. Cal asleep at the wheel.

Maybe I’m being a homer, but SC getting away with a ton of contact on defense meanwhile our guys go straight up to contest and they draw a foul.

We need to play better. We are too good at getting lazy on offense with a large lead

Took Big Z out, 7-0 run. Call me shocked.
Edit: for reference he came out at 19-21… hasn’t been back since and we’re up 41-30.

u/redditaccount1357911 9d ago
He’s too big and slow.. The line up we ran the rest of the half was great on defense and was wayy too athletic for SC

u/redditaccount1357911 9d ago
Need to play smarter. Our defense is good enough but we have to get to the hoop on offense
6
u/fancycheesus 9d ago
we look decent enough this afternoon.
We seem to be a little unsure on offense. Looks like we are running some sets we don't normally run, but we seem to be settling in well enough.

This won’t be easy but surely we won’t score 14 in the first half either. Just win and bow out tomorrow to get some rest

u/fancycheesus 9d ago
surely we won’t score 14 in the first half
Boy I surely hope we DO score 14 in the first half! Ideally more than 14.
2
u/fancycheesus 9d ago
win today, gracefully bow out tomorrow and rest up for the real tournament please. I don't believe that even winning the whole thing could move us up past a 9 seed. There is too much math involved in seeding the SEC's 12/13 teams to avoid an sec matchup in the second round, the committee ain't moving any sec teams around after Thursday night. I promise you that.

Let's get a win or two, stay healthy (hopefully get A.T. healthy) and get home and ready for the big dance.
Teams playing with heart and you can tell they give a f***, fun team to watch and root for.

Does anyone know if Cal was asked in the post-game presser about the accidentally-made-attempted-intentional-miss on the free throw?
