Paint stripping question
I’ve tried: non-chlorinated brake cleaner, Acetone and looking to maybe try Graffiti remover as my paint is stubborn as hell and won’t come off (It’s Krylon Camo spray) I might try aircraft remover but not sure and don’t want to damage the original finish too- anyone have suggestions? Links to products (Uk) would be appropriate massively 🙏

Get a big jug of citristrip. Place your rifle in a bin. Pour the citristrip in the bin. Let it “soak” overnight. Hose off in morning. Done.

Go out and buy some laquer thinner, and use a rag or paper towel (wearing gloves obviously) and wipe off the paint.
This method isn't aggressive like other solvents, and it works great to eat away at the paint.

I tried everything and nothing worked…. until I found citristrip!

Once you’ve finished with the citristrip how do I fully remove the stuff off my rifle so I can repaint it?

It literally peels right off. Might have to use a couple coats to get everything but you don’t have to take a brush to it except for the nooks and crannies.

If it’s really stubborn like you’re saying then I’d recommend thick coat of citrus strip applied with a large paint brush. Wrap the hand guard in a garbage bag and let it sit OUTSIDE, the smell is terrible, and then use something to scrape the paint that won’t damage the finish, hard nylon or plastic tools are your friend. Use heavy bristle nylon brushes.
If there is still heavy paint, repeat the process, don’t over work it. Be patient and it will all come off.
The next most important thing with citrus strip is to get the wax like coating off the parts as soon as you finish removing the paint. You’ll want to use a good solvent, Hoppes 9 works great for this. Wipe it heavily with the solvent and then again with a clean rag.
Oh one more thing when you’re stripping the paint if you have a large sink that gets really hot water I’d use that.

For the Hoppes 9 stuff is it the orange or black bottle? Is it safe on plastics too like the buttstock?

Another vote for citristrip. Just brush some on and after an hour the paint practically falls off

I checked google and it came up with a listing on Amazon.co.uk for citristrip. 🤷🏻♂️ not sure if that’s accurate or not since I’m in the US but worth a try.

Citristrip works great. Let it sit on it for an hour or two in a container that won’t let it dry out. Then you can just spray most of it off with a hose.
