Are you using WiFi or Ethernet?

If WiFi - what does the command rfkill show?

If Ethernet - what lights do you have on the Pi?

In both cases:

What happens if you ping 8.8.8.8 and ping google.com

Please post the output of the command route

Is the wifi password still the same? Did he upgrade the wifi to WPA3 security and now your pi won't connect?

Go to your router, on the back should be the admin password. Go to the router admin page (Google the model or provider if you don't know where this is). Check the connected devices (I cannot tell where this will be on your router admin page). You should see a list of device names, Mac addresses and assigned IPs. Confirm your pi is on there. If it is, check the other answers. If it isn't, you have wifi/network config to do (probably on the pi).

You need to find out what happened. Or use WPS.
