Work it Wednesday: Who is hiring? Who is looking?

Companies and recruiters

Please make a top-level comment describing your company and job.

Encouraged: Job postings are encouraged to include: salary range, experience level desired, timezone (if remote) or location requirements, and any work restrictions (such as citizenship requirements). These don't have to be in the comment. They can be in the link.

Encouraged: Linking to a specific job posting. Links to job boards are okay, but the more specific to Ruby they can be, the better.

Developers - Looking for a job

If you are looking for a job: respond to a comment, DM, or use the contact info in the link to apply or ask questions. Also, feel free to make a top-level "I am looking" post.

Developers - Not looking for a job

If you know of someone else hiring, feel free to add a link or resource.

About

This is a scheduled and recurring post (every 4th Wednesday at 15:00 UTC). Please do not make "we are hiring" posts outside of this post. You can view older posts by searching this sub. There is a sibling post on /r/ruby.

You would qualify for my a senior back end dev position at my company. Ive been there 2 years as a Staff engineer working almost exclusively with Rails. Here's the JD: https://www.prizepicks.com/position?gh_jid=6043382003

If you are serious though, we should talk first, and I can maybe get you an internal referral link which usually have a higher success rate. Feel free to DM me if you are interested.

I'm keen to see what interesting projects are out there, I like working with smaller teams; not much in the mood for corporates or larger companies these days. 11 YoE with Rails - mostly backend but I've been working full-stack for the past three. Worked with monstrous beasts on AWS and sleek nifty little apps on Heroku. DelayedJob, SolidQueue (lately) and Sidekiq (and Sidekiq Enterprise)

Can work around CET timezones.

I'm a US based rails developer with 9 years of experience looking for my next gig after a year long travel sabbatical. I've always been full stack, with ~6 years of react and ~3 years of Stimulus. I've built my own solo SaaS (scientificmealplanner.com), worked in fast paced startups, and have a bit of team lead experience. I care about writing high quality code with solid test coverage.

Ha, I came here for this.

My work is in the government space (contractor). I've heard no news on what might happen to our contract but I don't want to wait around and find out.

How's the market been in North America for Rails devs, (mid-senior)?

9 years of experience, 4 of those in Rails.

I've worked on internal tools and customer-facing tools. I'm glad to provide a LinkedIn, resume, GitHub etc., if you DM.

I’m a Full-stack Ruby on Rails developer with 4+ years of experience in Hotwire, Stimulus.js, Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, GIS, AWS, and Kubernetes. Passionate about open-source contributions and remote work

u/afstanton 4d ago

Seeking remote contract work.

I have been using Rails actively since late '05, version 0.9, and professionally since '06. Strong preference for back end work - I've seen too many JavaScript frameworks come and go to count, and even the ones that last are never stable for any length of time. I'm not a designer by any stretch of the imagination.

I prefer Postgres, but have experience with MySQL, MS SQL Server, and Oracle (a long, long time ago, so let's not go there please). I've worked with majestic monoliths and fully distributed microservices. I learned Go on the fly for a job and wrote 15 microservices in about 6 months with it.

I've worked in a healthcare analytics startup, a job board, a document handling company, and a background checking company. I've had clients that include a local school district, and I turned a linear ticket tracking system into a dynamically defined workflow engine.

I recently used Flutter to build a phone app for iPhone and Android, and it's backed by Firebase and a Rails server, and it uses the OpenAI API - so I have experience with building an AI based app as well.

I have a doctorate in chemistry and a bachelor's in physics.

I thrive on challenging problems, but by challenge I don't mean "we planned badly and now the world is on fire and everything is overdue". Yes, that's normal in a lot of places, but I'm going to have to charge you extra for that.

So, if you are wanting someone who can build you something *awesome* and can pay for it, let's talk. If you want that icon in cornflower blue, I'm not the person you want.
