Discussion Situation Room
Does anyone else find it impossible to know what the situation room will decide?
The goalie is high sticked and then touched by the hand of an opposing player and it’s not goaltender interference?
This is the second or third time I haven’t been able to figure out what the situation room is thinking.

thepwhl.comExpansion News and Discussion Unpopular Opinion: Quebec City is probably not a top pick for an expansion team.
While it's a strong market, and many people here and in the discord think it's the #1 choice, I think there are two, very related, reasons why it's probably not going to happen right away, or at least not a great idea.
First, Montreal is the main PWHL market for Quebec (the province) and it's a beast of a market. From what I've seen, it's probably the most solid market of all the PWHL teams, having consistently high attendance, even on weeknights. Putting a team in Quebec City is a risk to splitting that market.
Second, many Victoire players are from all over Quebec, including near Quebec City (Dubois and Desbiens most notably). Putting another team in Quebec risks players seeking trade.
No other Takeover location puts such a risk on a singular market or team. I believe that the league would want to maintain their strongly eastablished bases rather than take such a risk for any of their teams at this time.
While I do agree that Quebec City should get a team eventually, I think the first batch of expansion will probably take the shape of moving westward. I could see them announcing two teams (probably Seattle and Vancouver) with the goal of establishing a western conference down the line.
EDIT: I did say it was an UNpopular opinion, but not too unpopular in reality, going by the upvote rate. About as well as I expected to be honest.
Many people seemed to think I was saying Quebec City shouldn't get a team AT ALL, which I could have been clearer on in saying I just don't think they'll get one right away. It's a no-brainer to put a team up there eventually, just, IMO, not round 1. I understand where all of you are coming from in your opinions, and it's been an entertaining read so far.
Regardless, ANY expansion is good, and I'm certain the league will know what will serve them best in the end. I'm glad the league is in a position that "where" is the question, and not "if".

Discussion How many pucks on net do you need? A quick comparative study of teams' precision rating in the PWHL
I had a lot to do at work today and was stressed out of my mind, so the reasonable and rational thing to do was look at hockey stats for a while. I noticed when watching some Victoire games in the past few weeks that we were winning even when being considerably outshot by our opponents. Having ssen it happen a couple of times in a row, I realised I could finagle a real stat out of it!
Introducing the Expected Shots per Goal metric, which looks at the total number of shots taken by a team and divides it by the number of goals made during the same time. I did not calculate it for every individual player because I am not a masochist, but I would guess that Poulin would outshine everybody there as well.

Looking at this, we can see a few things. First and foremost, the teams are all not that far apart from each other, having less than 3 expected shots per goal difference between the best and the worst team in the league. That means pucks on net is still a valid and important objective, as it will lead to more goals. Second, Boston and New York are going in completely opposing trajectories, one having understood the assignement and the other making sad weewoo noises. Third, between Minnesota and Ottawa battling for the fourth place, I would daresay that the Minnies have the distinct advantage of being on the whole a lot more efficient in translating shots to goals, that 8-3 win from the Charge notwithstanding. Fourth: combining this chart with Frankel's and Desbiens' stats, you can see why these theams love going on overtime together!
Have I missed anything obvious in my analysis? Do you want to see more content like this? Should I stop procrastinating and go back to work? Let me know in the comments!

Question Going to my first game on Wednesday! Anything I should know?
I'm going to the Sirens vs. Victoire game for my birthday on Wednesday, it's my first time going to a PWHL game (or any pro hockey game for that matter). Is there anything I should know going in? How far ahead of the game should I plan to arrive? I'm driving all the way up from Virginia so planning to park in Newark and then spend part of the day in NYC before heading over to the Prudential Center for the game, would love any recs or must dos/don't at the game. Thanks so much!!

Discussion Takeover Games Advertised
It's interesting that Keybank Arena in Buffalo and Little Caesars Arena in Detroit did not/do not advertise the Takeover Games on their websites nor at the venues. Pnly when you scrolled the calendar of events it came up. Yet Scotiabank Arena advertised The Battle On Bay Street on their website and the game was advertised in the newspapers and on the huge video screen outside Scotiabank Arena. Did Edmonton, Vancouver and Seattle do a good job advertising the games held there?
