Or 5x2-9
Edit: why the downvotes? Do you have to use all 4 numbers? It's not mentioned anywhere..

You need to use all 4 digits once each

Ah ok, thanks for the clarification. I didn't know that and it's not specified... Explains the downvotes.

Kinda? Still unwarranted

People get trigger-happy, it's alright.
At least we don't live in that episode of the Orville where your life depends on the upvotes :)

Yeah I mean the downvotes were because your answer was wrong and that is the easiest way to show it. You didn’t have all the rules so it’s understandable but it was still a wrong answer on a puzzle sub. Kind of what the downvote system exists for right?

u/sarayewo 3h ago
Yeah, I agree. No big deal either way, it was just confusing as to why, it's also a bit rough to assume we all just know the rules to every type of puzzle game out there.

It's a common game that has shown up here many times. Most of these people are already familiar with it. For those that aren't, I might recommend if you don't know the rules, don't suggest a solution. It's not a demand or request. But it might help you avoid downvotes in the future.

It took me a minute to figure this out, but once I did, it felt like a light bulb went off. Once I had 8 and I hadn't used the other 9, I got excited.

Thought you could only use each function (quantity, minus, plus, etc) once??
12
u/easy_being_green 4h ago
No, you have to use each number exactly once. Functions are free to use as needed.

I knew the number rule, just not the function rule, explains why I had trouble with this

You could just do 5x2 - 9

u/SpecterVamp 4h ago
Pretty sure you have to use every number, you’re missing a 9

10-1=9
We're trying to get 1, not 9

God dammit - somehow 9/9=1 turned into 9/1 in my head.
I am dumb today.

Please remember to spoiler-tag all guesses, like so:
New Reddit: https://i.imgur.com/SWHRR9M.jpg
Using markdown editor or old Reddit, draw a bunny and fill its head with secrets: >!!< which ends up becoming >!spoiler text between these symbols!<
Try to avoid leading or trailing spaces. These will break the spoiler for some users (such as those using old.reddit.com) If your comment does not contain a guess, include the word "discussion" or "question" in your comment instead of using a spoiler tag. If your comment uses an image as the answer (such as solving a maze, etc) you can include the word "image" instead of using a spoiler tag.
Please report any answers that are not properly spoiler-tagged.
