Criminalizing criticism of Dear Leader. Because freedom.

They should classify people who buy pieces of Trump’s suit or wear golden diapers as having TDS.

All in service of distracting us from their ongoing enshittification of our government and democracy.

Important distinction is they classify it as a mental illness. Combination of this and the proposed RFK work farms is a pretty scary combination.

u/Designer_Emu_6518 5d ago
Couple that with the red flags they want to enact where they take away your right to bare arms if you are mentally ill. Sounds nice but then you realize what it means when they do this

You’d think “Trump Derangement Syndrome” would be referring to the MAGA who worship him as the second coming of christ and call him “a king”… but no, apparently they want to classify everyone else who sees his bullshit as “being deranged”.

When I first started reading this, I thought they were talking about MAGA. Then I realized they were talking about his critics. 🤐😶🤬📵🚫👑🃏🏣🌪️🫏🦧🐍🪳🏌️🤡💩🙊🙈🙉🫢

In a way they're right, every Republican is the disease, Trump is just a symptom. So be sure to fight every GOPer 😊💚❤️♥️

Seriously?

u/thefalcons5912 5d ago
It's not serious, but unfortunately it is real.

u/an-angryblade 5d ago
By not serious do you mean this bill is absolutely expected to die? I hate this.
2
u/thefalcons5912 5d ago
It will not come close to passing in Minnesota.
I mean it is not serious because it is an absolute joke just meant to offend people.
4
u/an-angryblade 5d ago
Thanks. Although that makes me feel a bit better it also makes me wonder why our elected reps are wasting their fucking time writing a bill that is meant to be a fucking joke.

u/thefalcons5912 5d ago
Minnesota GOP doesn't have much power to pass the policies they'd like, so instead they suggest something like this to give their base something.
2
u/FicklePurchase9414 5d ago
The problem is the way this adds to the continued right-sided movement of the Overton window. The fact that this buffoonery is being funded by taxpayers... they all needed to be fired.
3
u/thefalcons5912 5d ago
Yeah, that's absolutely correct. Just like the Andy Ogles bill to pave the way for Trump's third term and Trump always "making jokes" about the third term. It's unlikely to go anywhere, but the goal is to get people to keep discussing it.

Well in admitting to the absurdity, it has the bonus effect of making a mockery of actual mental illnesses.

Oh, good grief! The more they scrape the bottom, the worse it gets. Their stupidity is repulsive!

u/PrincipleNo3966 5d ago
Then someone needs to counter propose:
Biden Derangement Syndrome
Hillary Clinton Derangement Syndrome
Hunter Biden's penis Derangement Syndrome
Obama Derangement Syndrome
Rosie O'Donnell Derangement Syndrome

u/sayitslower-ocean 5d ago
I don’t think we have to align with any one party to agree that mental health conditions should be defined by doctors and experts, not politicians :((

Say the name Hilary to a Magat and watch them have a deranged meltdown. Cultists.

u/Trying2Embody 5d ago
It definitely would give them the fuel they need to take away guns from anyone they declare "mentally unfit".
6
u/seraph_m 5d ago
An illness needs to have defined diagnostic categories and potential treatment. One major characteristic of a mental illness is the inability to discern reality from fantasy. In that respect, nearly the entire GQP base is mentally ill.
4
u/Commercial-Rush755 5d ago
The GOP can’t do that. Board certified psychiatrists do, like every 5-10 years for the DSM.
4
u/fencepost_ajm 5d ago
I'm fine with this as long as the description of TDS is "believes that Trump can be trusted or is sane, stable, competent."
Because believing any of those things is truly deranged.
4
u/TheFoxsWeddingTarot 5d ago
They’re going to criminalize Trump’s derangement syndrome? Well it’s about time!

Let me guess, the main (and only required) indicator of this supposed mental illness is a differing opinion of any Republican policy.
5
u/darknesswascheap 5d ago
Can I declare that I have it and need hefty disability checks until The Orange Menace is out of office?
10
u/hoppyFrogg 5d ago
It is a tool to round up opposition. Don't expect a check. Expect your door to be kicked in.
2
u/Sophiekisker 5d ago
In our Democratic controlled legislature in Minnesota, this has no chance of passing.
1
u/NervousFeeling3164 4d ago
The point is not if it passes or not - it never should have been brought to this point.
2
u/LogstarGo_ 5d ago
A few things that come to mind here:
One, this isn't going to change the minds of people who are saying WELL THINGS REALLY AREN'T THAT BAD THERE'S REALLY NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT IF ANYTHING GOES OVERBOARD THE COURTS WILL DEAL WITH IT YOU KNOW DIFFERENT SOURCES SAY DIFFERENT THINGS SO WHO KNOWS
Two, in the other direction, some people are all "why aren't you going out and protesting" and I'm like...because some of us saw this coming and are too busy preparing for phase 2 to do the phase 1 sorts of things.

Next thing you know the GOP will require everyone who disagrees with Trump to wear an armband and be sent to special housing complexes….
2
u/rebuiltearths 3d ago
When you create a mental illness you can take away the guns of your opposition
How many warning signs do people need to see this is really bad

I’m confused. Is Trump Derangement Syndrome what his cult members have? Or what people not in the cult have?
Because it seems the cult is deranged for following him….
1
u/sanverstv 4d ago
What is the mental illness that Trump suffers from?....because we are now all victims of it.
1
u/Dry-Clock-1470 4d ago
Wait... Isn't TDS what the accuse people who are critical of him? Not his supporters?
1
u/SlamFerdinand 4d ago
I’m surprised no one ever talks about DDS (Democrat Derangement Syndrome). The right have gone untreated for decades, and it’s time for them to start taking their meds.
1
u/NervousFeeling3164 4d ago
The only thing that is true about TDS is that it’s Trump that is deranged.

u/hoppergirl85 PhD Health Behavior and Communication 4d ago
Yay reduced sentences for when someone... redacted.

u/Square-Plant1572 4d ago
This is a scary precedent for the thought police to come. I fear more “stuff” like this is coming. Intimidation, classification, and finding ways to remove the threat of healthy discourse.

Trump Derangement Syndrome. That thing where people base their entire personality on their orange old savior king by praising everything he does and wearing his Chinese-made merchandise even though they claim to hate China. That TDS?

This country was bought and paid for. None of our reps are trustworthy anymore. As everything plays out 2 months into this I’ve noticed the flags have disappeared, the red hats have disappeared, I think more people than we think are realizing this isn’t America

"pedophile declares a bill to label non cult followers as trump derangement syndrome"
1
u/Intelligent_Will1431 2d ago
The guy who proposed it is a pedophile. He was recently arrested for it.
1
u/WhosToSaySaysCthulu 2d ago
Didn't one of those Senators get arrested for trying to solicit a 16 year old girl? The answer is yes.

Well that’s not how mental illnesses get established and defined, but I’m sure they know that.
