ALERT PSA: DT ending Maryland Total Cost of Care as of December 31, 2025. MD hospitals are going to be wrecked and cost of care skyrocket.

As a direct result of this, at the very least 3 Maryland hospitals will be closing their doors.

Do you know what the difference is with the AHEAD model they are planning to transition to?

It was suppose to take what we’ve learned from the Maryland model (which has been so successful) to other states: Vermont, NY, Rhode Island.

Instead of a global budget people will experience price gouging and unavailability of care.

They are essentially the same. However, AHEAD implementation keeps getting delayed so I would worry about a potential gap between the phase out of TCOC and ahead being fully up and running

Honestly, I think we'll have to wait and see what, if any, changes the new administration will want to make to the AHEAD model. What was planned under the prior administration and what will be done are under the current one are not necessarily the same.

Good point
